Traditionally the January sales have started on Boxing Day, but in recent years the trend has been for them to start early online on Christmas Eve - as by then the items won't be able to get delivered before Christmas.

We've a breakdown of when the biggest retailers's sales start - take a look then reply to tell us whether you rate the deals, or if they're marketing spin

Debenhams has started in store already. I got a few bargains, 1/2 price cardigans and jumpers mostly. I don't really need anything else.

I purchased it for £30.00 on xmas eve, amazon have now increased the price to £45.00!! Awaiting to see what there "lighting deal" will be, properly back down to £30.00. That would still give them a 30% discount.

Lots of stuff in the Debenhams 50% off sale, but I think it's more worthwhile to wait until the discounts go up. They have so many sales now anyway, best waiting for the biggest discounts.

Boots on the other hand I always shop with at 50% off to get what I want rather than risk things selling out/ waiting for 75% off.

Got some good deals from Boots yesterday, gifts for my nephews next year, good reductions. Debenhams toys selection for the sale not as good as last year.

Ordered 1 dress from debenhams for DD online for in store delivery. Got an email just now saying theh can't fulfil order......utter rubbish. The dress was for a wedding and it was between that or another dressbin monsoon. I chose the debenhams one....now the other one in monsoon is out of stock. Not happy. First time someone wasn't able toi fulfil an order.....except for the l'occitane glitch.

PC World didn't impress me much, it seems they're just using the sale as a way of getting rid of all the HP laptops. I was eyeing up a couple of laptops already and now they are in the 'sale' at the same price as they have been for the last week. Hmmm. Same with the 64GB Blackberry Playbook... save £125, now £124? It was £129 yesterday, so that's a saving of a fiver more like!

That said, well impressed with my half price Philosophy skincare.

Matalan VIP sale .. fifty percent off .. I ordered Handbag shoes dressing gown top jumper coat all came to the grand total of fifty quid .. .. DD ordered loads too hers came to same amount.. thats my sales shopping sorted ,, no battling through the crowds for me .. when I can sit at my computer in my PJs in the warmth ..:beer:

Love the boots sale, I always get some toys for the yr coming from tht, this time it was mainly lalaloopsy things

Got my eldest daughter a Barbour jacket for 54.99 in the panache kids sale, and could have bought lots more if I'd had the money

There are impressive savings on some beds and settees in Argos it's just a shame you can't test how they are before you buy

And got some good bargains for myself in new look sale (my Christmas to myself as OH and I don't bother buying each other something before Xmas when we know most will be half price straight after.

Wll be going out tomorrow for a mosey in water stones (annuals for the kids) boots (see what's in store I missed out on a half price Rubix cube for kids online so will try to get one of those) and debenhams (in the hope of a nice perfume set with money off)
