On a DMP plan but constantly harassed by Orange HELP

Hello

I am new here. I have recently gone on a DMP plan with StepChange (formerly CCCS). To cut a long story short, I had a car accident in August, had to give up my job due to injury as a result and am on ESA benefit. Obviously my income reduced dramatically and I found myself unable to pay my creditors, including Orange for mine and my husbands contracts. I am currently awaiting a further leg operation. All creditors have accepted the offers of payment apart from Orange. Despite them knowing about the DMP they insist on telephoning me 3 times every day for the last 2 months and are continuing to do so despite each time going through the same story with them and each time being assured that they will put a note on the system to stop further calls. The calls are now becoming very aggressive in nature.

I have written them a 3 page letter twice by recorded delivery, have emailed them 5 times and countless times explained my situation. They insist I have to go on a payment plan with them and NOT through my DMP provider which I have told them I cannot as this goes against the idea of the plan and is unfair to the other creditors.

I am at my wits end. It is 2 days before Christmas and I should be happy and celebrating with my family but I am at breaking point because of the phone calls of one company.

I don't deny I owe the money but have been honest with them from the beginning. Nothing is good enough for them. I am trying to avoid them adding extra charges on in it eventually going to court and have kept all correspondence to eventually show the Judge (if it gets that far) that I did all I could to make payment but they refused to accept and any claim for costs will be strongly disputed.

Can anyone offer any advice please?

Thank you so much.

    Hello Peggy,

First be assured you are right and Orange are wrong. You are not allowed to give some creditors preferential treatment over others.

Have a read of Fermi's sticky post at the top of the page on harrassment. I haven't read it but that may give help.

I would suggest you keep a pad next to the phone. Don't bother wasting time writing any long letters anymore. Hopefully Fermi has some stock answers you can use on their calls. Put the phone down on them once you have used your stock answers and record when they are ringing you and maybe some of the the things they are saying that are not right. Patterns of behaviour are very useful in cases of harrassment.

If it continues get someone like Citizen's Advice involved.

Try to not let it ruin Christmas.
