Evening all
My lovely DSis treated us to an ice cream yesterday as she was really late meeting us which was nice. We had a lovely day until at teatime DS decided to shove a pea up his nose. Quick trip to the local infirmary and the nurse managed to get it out so hopefully he won't be doing that again :rotfl:
I managed to get the food shop done after DS went to bed. Went to Tesco and used a £5 off £40 voucher that MIL gave me. As our weekly food budget is £30 I made it to £40 by stocking up on nappies and maternity supplies which comes out of another budget. Unfortunately I was 57p over my food budget and still don't have dishwasher tablets which we'll need soon. As long as I stick to the meal plan we should be alright until next week.
All of our bills that come out the beginning of the month have come out. Only have the council tax, both mobile bills, water and sky left I think. I'm hoping for around £150/£200 left in the joint account at the end of the month to put towards the credit cards and savings. We will see if that happens though :rotfl:TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -
Well the first day of the bank holiday weekend was a spend day. We were planning on taking DS to the local country park for a bike ride but it chucked it down as soon as we got in the car. Decided to take him to the play barn and bought another monthly pass. We spent £4.90 on tea and snacks for DH and I.
Once we got home we all cleaned the car and motorbike which saved us all some money and DS had a great time getting wet. DH had to buy some chain lubricant for the motorbike but has taken it out of his petrol account for the moment. It was only £6 so it can come out of the vehicle maintenance savings if needed. We also had a takeaway and snacks after DS went to bed but that has come from our 'leisure' savings for the month.
I'm really pleased that I've budgeted for things like these so that when we are tempted/unplanned things come up we can deal with them without spending money we don't have.
Our plans for bank holiday monday are to visit Speke Hall with my mum and stepdad as we all have NT membership at the moment. We shall take a picnic and hopefully the weather will be lovely. They're predicting 20C which'll be great. No need to hide in the restaurant and end up spending money we don't have :rotfl:TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -
Yesterday was a lovely day but I think we're all shattered now. Speke Hall was really busy but DS enjoyed the play park and riding his balance bike through the gardens. We only paid for ice creams which cost £5.55 but couldn't say no in 20C heat. We left about 1.30pm so mum and step dad could enjoy the hall in peace.
DS ended up having a nap as he was so tired when we got home then we all watched the snooker final. Managed to get a lot of ironing done and steam cleaned the kitchen floor.
I'm hoping to keep up with the flylady thread this week and sort out all our car boot items ready for Sunday.
Plans for today are
* Have a shower & get us both dressed.
* Declutter kitchen and living room.
* Bake raisin cookies and victoria sponge.
* Pack DS his lunch and send him off to preschool at 12.
* Foodbank until 1.
* Meeting Sister for tea and cake while kids are at preschool. Budgeted for
* Craft club 2-4 and pick DS up at 3.
* Send DS to his nana's and I can go to weight watchers.
* Have a look in town for sandals for DS as well as name tags.
Hopefully wednesday and thursday will be SFDs. Also I have about £10 through skimming accounts to pay onto barclaycard so shall try and do this today.TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -
Hello diary,
Wednesday was a SFD but Thursday wasn't. We had to buy some chocolate for DS as he went to the loo like a big boy.
Yesterday we went to BHS to meet Aunt and Uncle for lunch. We all had fish & chips with the voucher so only cost me £1.40 for a cup of tea. I shared mine with DS as it was so big and had some juice for DS in my bag :money:
I also did most of the food shopping yesterday at Asda as it gave me free parking for 2 hours. I just need a couple of bits that weren't cheap enough in Asda while I'll probably get at Morrisons this evening. We've got Messy Church 4-6pm which also includes dinner which is great and only costs me £1 or maybe a bit more if I have the change. My friend runs it & I now how tight money is with it so try to be generous.
Received written confirmation of our new mortgage repayments and that it'll go out on 30th June. This means we have another pay packet to use against our debt. Payments towards Barclaycard this week total £27 which has just been skimming accounts and emptying the penny jar. I'm hoping to pay off at least another £60 towards the Barclaycard before pay day but DH isn't helping matters . His latest request is that he needs to restring his bow which costs £75 and then he has to go and pick it up from near Coventry. My plan is to take £35 out of this month's pay and £30 from next month which should lessen the blow. He also informed me that when he does the Three Peaks Challenge beginning of June, he needs £50 to cover the hostel, food and beers at the pub. He never seems to consider making food to take with him to save money.:mad:
Ok, rant over. Now off to finish organising the car boot stuff for tomorrow. I'm hoping for about £100 to go towards the credit card but we'll see.TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -
Hello diary,
I've been thinking about how to pay off the credit cards this morning. I've checked when the 0% offers finish and they aren't until September 2014 & February 2015. With our savings so low and things croping up every month, I think we need to put more into savings then the credit cards at the moment. Is this a wise idea?
DS & I have been to playgroup this morning but now I'm absolutely shattered. Hopefully I can just potter about the house this afternoon & DS can play with his toys. I need to make some more cakes/snacks for the cupboard and get on top of the ironing/folding.TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -
Hi Mrs Toast,
hope you & baby Toast are well.
In response to you last post regarding putting mor ein savnigs that on credit card, this is exactly what i have had to do. when i started my diary i had a big plan & could of been debt free by the end of next year....but i now have different priorities and althoguh i know that paying off debts is REALLY important.....i am seeing the fact i am saving & still paying some off as better because i am not adding to the problem. does that make sense?
any baby bargains recently? xFacing up to things - nov 2012 total 9334.95

Hi Lurvlyloz
We're all doing fine thanks. I have a midwife appointment in the morning so looking forward to that.
I managed a baby bargain at the weekend. I bought 3 large bags of baby girl clothes for £20 and they're all really good quality and some really good brands as well. I think the baby will be fully clothed until at least 9-12 months and I'll keep a look out for some bundles for DS and the baby for the future.
I'm definitely concentrating on savings at the moment which is still very satisfying. We managed to save enough for the car tax this month which never happens. We've probably saved nearly £300 this payday already. DH has just told me that he needs a new chain and spockets on his motorbike but I can take that £90 from the house maintenance fund as it's more urgent. Hopefully once all the pots are up to where I want them it'll be much better.
Hope you're doing ok Lurvlyloz. I'm doing too much decluttering and not enough resting :rotfl:TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -

I have transfered my planned overpayments for the cc's to our ISA for the month. £62 overpayment which is great. I've also had to save £75 for DH's new strings on his bow which wasn't all planned for this month but never mind. The bank accounts all look really healthy and I've worked out that we should have approximately £150 left at the end of the month. Hopefully I'll be able to put some of that to the ISA, some to savings to top up the pots maybe a treat as well as it's DH's birthday that week.
Planned spend day today but should get most things I need today. Will just get tomorrow the turkey on offer at Lidl and anything I can't get in town at Tesco. I'm also planning to buy a birthday present and some shorts for DS but I have a budget and will stick to it in the charity shops. The only thing I need to purchase for the baby is a new cot mattress but that isn't urgent. Need some paint for DS's new wardrobe so will look into that today.TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -
