cheap chocolate

I want to make some christmas gifts for the kids to give, like the slabs that Hotel Chocolat do, I wondered what the best tasting cheap chocolate is? I think a few years ago when I did this it was a basic sainsburys one, but I wondered if that was still the case?

Many thanks chcolate lovers!

As it is gifts for kids, I really wouldn't worry. Kids will eat ANY chocolate without complaint ;)
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Curtain pole installed in the living room
    Paint curtain pole
Window quilts for landing window & french door
Add shrink film to the kitchen door & insulate
    Insulate front door
Bubble wrap windows & french door
    Wash front door curtain
    Blind for the bathroom
Find wrist warmers & the wool socks!
    Wash heated throws
    Wash duvet & wool blankets
Buy vest tops to go under clothes and PJs
Buy nets for bathroom and kitchen
Buy or make blind for kitchen

Where does it say the gifts are for kids?

Calm down... I misread the first sentence and read it as "Christmas gifts for the kids"

I'm sure your reply has been very helpful... (to nobody at all).

OP - I find that Lidl and Aldi do very good cheap chocolate :)

I like the "moser roth" chocolate from Aldi
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • My daughter was given a bar of Asda smart price chocolate for singing to the pensioners with the school choir and it was surprisingly nice. We finished it off in no time. Just looked it up and it's 30p for 100g

The 'Dairyfine' chocolate from Aldi is popular with my grandkids - I prefer the pricier one Moser roth.

Yes, Sainsbury's basics is still the best for melting and cooking with, I even use the dark one for 'luxury' desserts like chocolate fondant.

I currently have 14 bars in the kitchen ready to make a chocolate house out of this:

Aldi or Lidl, theres a lot of choice from white and milk chocolate buttons to whole bars of plain, milk and white. They also have nuts and fruits you can use to make the gig slabs you mention in your question.
