Boyfriend's debt

Hi Tigger81
It sounds like you have had a big shock! I do feel for you, I myself have debts in excess of £60,000 and it took me a long while to face up to them and tell my OH (which I only did this week as it happens) looking at it from your boyfriends point of view, he was and still is probably ashamed of what he has accumulated, it took being with my OH and wanting a future to tell him
about. The situation similar to you, knew I had debts but not how much.
Thank you...it's been great to hear from people in similar situations. I felt really stupid about not even having an idea about it, but it seems from some of the posts on here that it is pretty easy to hide it.
Honestly I know it is my boyfriend's fault mainly but I can't believe that banks and these companies actually allow people to run up these sorts of debts knowing they might not be able to pay them back!!!0 -

I'm in a fairly similar situation to you, I vaguely knew about my hubbys debts (when we were just bf and gf), and in January this year he fully (I think fully - infact I'm almost certain now, after having access to all his accounts for over 3 months) admitted his debts to me.
If you want to read my history and some of the advice I was given, my post is here...

Have been on your thread, thank you really helpful hearing from how other people have dealt with it...guess it is possible to move on.
Think everyone is so brave for admitting and confronting it. Having seen what my boyfriend is going through I really admire you all. Don't think I ever realised how much it can control your life0 -
When is your appointment with the CAB?
You'll have to let us know how you got on and best of luck with it all xx0
