Selling books online?

Options
I was wondering if anyone knew any sites where you can sell your old books online? I've tried zapper and webuybooks but they seem to reject just about everything I try to shift! These aren't just copies of dodgy paperback novels either but some text books, music books, etc.... but they just seem so restricted as to what they accept. Does anyone have any experience of other sites that have a more open policy? A little like musicmagpie do with CDs? I'm not expecting to get a massive amount and will probably take most to the charity shop... but curious to know of any other recommendations? Thanks.

    EBay or Amazon

I've bought loads of sheet music via eBay, from vintage song sheets through to current ABRSM exam books

I'd reckon text books might fare better through Amazon, though.
  • Thanks. Not sure I have the time for Amazon and then waiting for it to sell... was wondering more if there was a site like zapper BUT one that actually accepts most books?
  • Although you can list books on Amazon and wait for someone to buy them, you can sell them directly to Amazon too, in the same way as you do with Zapper and the money gets credited to your account.

Just google "Amazon Book Trade In" (I am fuzzy on when links are allowed on this forum).

You might not get as much as you would if you waited for someone to buy them, but it is a quick and easy way to get rid of books, especially textbooks.
  • Thanks. Same old problem with them too... I find they don't actually accept many books! Hope you've had more success with them than I have...
  • I know of a website called Green Metropolis where you can buy and sell books for a set price (can't remember off the top of my head but I think it's £2.75). Setting up putting your books on there is easy enough but I haven't actually managed to sell one yet. They're sorted by who posted their book online first and I'm probably halfway up a long line of people with the same books as me.

It's an option though, check it out!

They can ask whatever they like, but the only figure that means anything is what they're selling for, and possibly how many are selling.

Log in to your eBay account and look for 'Completed Listings' to see how many sold, what they sold for, and also - the ones that didn't sell.

If you don't have an eBay account, post the book title and author and I'll look it up for you.

Only one has sold on ebay and that went for £9.68 and that includes post and packing and is before all eBay and PayPal fees.
