I don't know chickalittle. Sorry. I would guess that it would be from the reassessment date as it is the most up to date info with corrected figures, although if the arrears already existed, it could be the date from when they were built up.

thanks Kellogs36 - you'd think it would be from the reassessment but I was told it's from when the debt originally accrued.
I think seeing as no one is certain - I will see if my MP can get a straight answer. If it is the former, then I honestly feel something should be changed. I know there are a couple of threads from people not happy about their arrears but for me, I've covered this money, raised our children out of my own income and just strongly believe it should be paid. I feel badly let down by a system which allows the NRP debt for their children to be wiped off at the expense of the struggling PWC. It's just wrong, and if that's the case than the CSA should look at their "rules & regulations" and make sure the PWC is protected better under these circumstances. I'm mad ...

If you can get it categorically that they have failed to collect the money, then you have strong grounds on which to get compensation. Go to your MP and ask him to refer your case to the Parliamentary Ombudsman who will investigate the case for you, but you may want to do this once you have it in writing that they cannot recover the money as it is too late.
