I am mucho confused today. I logged onto my online banking to move money out of a savings pot into my current account, so that I could then pay my car tax. I noticed there had been a shift of balance before I moved any money around so I checked what had come out and updated my budgetting spread sheet accordingly.
I now appear to have around £200 'spare' this month, where as before I had £0 to last me the month. I hadn't moved the car tax money in at that point so that's not caused the change. I was confused (and stressed) on Monday when I did my budgetting and realised I already had no spare money this month, but I'm now confused as to why I have some, lol. I must have had a random figure in there somewhere but, well, I'm confused...
I'll sit tight for a few more days in case I've missed something but very strange!
Oh, and to add to yesterday's post about busy weekends and petrol money, we now have a second bbq to go to this weekend - now one on Saturday and on on Sunday. It'll be great to see everyone and and will be free food (I don't feel bad saying that as we often hold the bbqs at ours and spend out on feeding everyone) but if anyone mentions the word sausage to me on Monday I might have to stuff my fingers in my ears and sing 'la la la la la la la..' hahaApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
**Checks new page of diary to see if her sister has graffiti'd on it anywhere**
Right, let's keep this going while I'm in the right frame of mind, and try and get the habit going..
The 'spare money' is rapidly vanishing (I blooming hope it is spare now otherwise I'm going further into my buffer) Just found out I had to pay for DS1's coach seperately for a residential trip he was on last week so while I was thinking I'd paid that all up, I still owe £20.. The school did a themed day last week where the children got to make a mask which is now displayed for us to all go and see tonight, that's another £5 each. Aaaaand, DS2 came home with a letter on Friday about a school trip so another £8 needed there asap. I need some tea and cake money for us all tonight at the exhibition too. So that's £50 I hadn't budgetted for just gone
Gawd I can't wait for the debts to be gone so that I can feel just a bit less squeezed for money each month
Bring on the weekend - woo hoo! One day of work left and then two BBQs to go to where we're neither cooking or housing the mess:D

It does seem quite a lot doesn't it? It's a small school which I guess explainsthe higher coach fee, and while I presumed the masks were just preformed paper ones that were decorated, when we got there last night they were solid 3d things (like something you could hang on the wall) so I realised then why that cost more. But still!
So last night also saw Mr Shortie going off to pick up a mid sleeper bed for my son that we bought off eBay. It has a desk etc built in underneath and as he has the small bedroom we're hoping it will help with space issues, meaning he can have a desk in his room. We're going to turn the built in cupboard in his room into a wardrobe, just waiting for some pull-out hanging space to turn up (you screw it to the bottom of a shelf) so that we can get rid of his wardrobe, get more floor space back and he can have a bean bag or similar. Oh, and we need to repaint hi bedroom and get new curtains...
All paid for out of the money I got for selling the Mini thankfully. And shopping around and waiting for a bargain is really helping to get this and my youngest's room done within budget. (Just need to find the time now, lol)
So approaching the weekend - wow what a long week this has felt! We're having hm pizza with hm dough balls and garlic butter for dinner. If I can get to Mr T to get some tortilla crisps then we can also have nachos as we have the chilli in the freezer
The, off to 2 bbqs - soggy bbqs looking at the weather! The cash spends that are expected this weekend are hair cut for the boys (they have mops on their heads now :rotfl:) possibly an entrance fee for a local village fayre (if it's not tipping it down) petrol to get to the 2 bbqs and a gift to take to one of the bbqs. I'm still aiming at £100 for all the bits for the weekends coming up, but thinking about it I should go and try and work this out, whoops!April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -

Hiya! Yep the weather was lovely, though yesterday's BBQ turned out to be a roast instead which was a welcome treat as we've not had a roast for ages as we've not had the time/been organised enough
So I've just had a re-take of the budget and I have £32 left in my bank account, which is slightly worrying as I don't get paid until the 20th. Food is out of a different budget (I take the cash out at the beginning of the month)
But (please excuse my waffle, I'm orgainsing my brain) I have a full tank of petrol, and I have the cash out already to pay the fee for the the bbq/fun day next Saturday, no plans for the Sunday. We were planning to be out the weekend after but not so sure now as I think i want to just crack on with stuff at home
I *shouldn't* need to spend the money in my account as I've got into a good routine with bringing my own lunches to work now (I don't bring my purse) and I don't know of anything else due out of my bank account. The only thing I might need is a petrol top up my youngest had to ben taken to the docs this morning, and has to go back as he couldn't do a wee sample on demand, so DH needed my car as his is full of bed (lol).. so instead of one journey to work and back today, my car will have done 2 station journeys, 2 trips to the docs, and possibly a run to my parent's house as DH was due to go an do some work in the garden there today (which will be a pain if he has the bed still in his car). I don't see my full tank lasting me 3 weeks at this rate...
So, I think I will need to reserve the £32 for petrol....
But still, if I can stick to that and there are no sudden surprises the rest of this month, I stand a chance of not going into my buffer for the first time in ages.
And believe me, that will feel like a huge win. Especially as every month recently, I've started the month with 'x' less as I've lost a chunk to clawing myself out of my bufferApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
that is a huge task but if you are good and have budgeted i'm sure you'll do itFacing up to things - nov 2012 total 9334.95

Haha, well it just got £3 huge-er as I rechecked my account today and a £3 OD charge came out this morning. But I'm doing well with bringing my food to work and I hope we will do okay withthe household food budget too
The only two worries are petrol and if they kids want any toot that their friends also get from the fun day we're going to on SaturdayApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -

Lol nope! But I'm not in my buffer either
I've needed petrol and will need more. We've used some savings (I'll pay back net week when I get paid) to come to the £1 kids cinema and some food both there and at a nearby softplay (free as membership paid up front) x
