DMP's

Hi I just need some advice. I currently owe around £49k on Cards and bank loan. I haven't been able to pay my cards for a couple of months now (loan is being paid tho). None of the CC company's have listened too me or gave me advice, apart from Virgin who put me through to Loans.co.uk, who can only lend me £35k to consolidate my debts. I had a look on the CCCS website last night and I think a DMP might help, my only problem is have I left it too late as I am so depressed I don't know what to do and I'm dragging my wife down with me. Any advice is greatfully receive.

Thx

The good news is you haven't left it too late :) Your first step is to phone either CCCS or Payplan and talk to one of their advisor's, they are lovely helpful people who won't judge you, all they will do is help and advise you what steps you need to take to get yourself out of the hole you are in now.

I started a DMP in Dec and it's the best thing I've done in ages. The relief of being able to tell my creditors, yes I messed up but I'm doing something about it now is immense. Don't put it off, phone them today you will feel so much better for it.

    Thx Looby,

Plan to phone them tonight when I get in from work. Just another quick question, I know a DMP will affect my credit rating but what about my wife's rating? Also will I be able to remortgage with my current lender for a better deal?

CCCS told me that my DMP wouldn't affect my husband's credit rating, not sure if this is true. I would be interested in the re mortgaging for a better deal answer, as I have now come off of a fixed rate and onto a variable.

CCCS were great, and I would definitely recommend ringing them. They will arrange to ring you back for an hour long appointment, and for this you will need to have prepared a detailed list of your income and outgoings. Getting control of your debts will be the best thing you ever did, I promise!
