Looking for oil which doesn't spit!!!

Don't use pan. Using a wok. the edge is higher such that it won't split that much.0

I think it could be down to the amount of oil you're using, to be honest. You shouldn't really need to use any oil to fry sausages; even the 90% meat ones have a certain amount of fat. If you're using a non-stick pan, you only need a very small amount of oil to fry eggs, too. Less oil & lower heat = less spitting.
I'm using rice bran oil at the moment, which is a healthier option and has a high smoke point. (Having said that, I fry things gently rather than over a very high heat.)
I should have mentioned that these are vegetarian sausages I'm cooking so little or no fat in them. I'm going to try the alternative oils recommended and see which one works best for me.
Thanks for the several advices:)0 -
my advice is to grill the veggie sausages rather than fry. If they're Linda Mac's theres lots of fat in them anyway, if using quorn or cauldron then I'd advise spraying or brushing with a little oil then grilling. Gives a great result, it's healthier and you don't have to clean the hob afterwards, result :-)0

If you think the type of oil influences how much it spits you need a cookery lesson.
Too much oil or heat too high or product containing water = spitting.0 -
If the problem is the oil spitting before the egg goes in; heat the empty pan on the hob, once hot, put in the oil and then the egg soon after; reduces spittingThrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
You don't really need oil in a non stick pan to fry an egg. I think 2 tablespoons is a lot. Try Frylight spray if your pan isn't non stick anymore.
Grilled sausages are much better too, i'm always amazed at the amount of fat that comes out of them !0 -
Quick reply-i've just switched to rapeseed from olive oil-fantastic stuff!0

Olive and rapeseed (usually called 'vegetable oil' in the UK) are actually very similar in fatty acid profiles and also in behaviour.
Both refined olive and refined rapeseed are better oils to fry with than cold-pressed or virgin oils, but this is because of degradation with heat and not because of spitting.0 -
Eggs are always best cooked on a low heat for a longer time anyway (whether fried, boiled, scrambled etc), but in the UK we seem to have it ingrained to cook them fast & hot - not the best way unless you like rubbery eggs!A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0
