What's the difference between Abbey and Santander?

Anyone know if they are ultimately the same company?

Abbey for Intermediaries is the brand name of Santander's broker business outlet.

So when I go to a broker do they advise to go via Abbey purely because their fee/commission is more favourable?

Everytime I see your username, there is an Abbey/Santander related question and pretty sure this has been covered already.

Santander have branches on the highstreet and if you go in directly to them it will all be Santander.

Abbey for Intermediaries, facilitates how us brokers place business with them.

The commission is irrelevant as the products are slightly different and therefore we get commission and the advisors in branch do not.

Are you ever going to actually apply for the mortgage or are you just going to ask more and more obscure questions about it which change nothing?

Brokers can't submit business directly to Santander. They submit through Abbey, they get paid.

It's a "get paid" or "not get paid question", not a "get paid more or less" one.
