Morrisons accepting coupons from other supermarkets

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd let you know that Morrisons is, from today, now accepting coupons from other supermarkets. These include:

Tesco
Sainsbury's
Asda
Lidl
Aldi
Waitrose

For example a £5 off £40 Asda coupon will give you the same deal at Morrisons. A coupon for a Tesco branded product could also be used for the equivalent Morrisons branded product. Please be aware that only one coupon per transcation is allowed and they're not to be used in conjunction with any other offer or staff discount. Also, online and fuel vouchers from other supermarkets are not being accepted.

    hi there
not doubting what you say but curious
where the info has come from??

    TIA
  • Hi, I work for Morrisons. We were briefed yesterday about it.
  • I just thought of another point: you may also find that this does not apply to all stores yet. Stores accepting these coupons will have the relevant signage on display.

Morrisons has stepped up the coupon war in grocery by accepting vouchers from other retailers.

The grocer is accepting money off vouchers from Sainsbury’s, Asda, Tesco, Lidl, Aldi and Waitrose in a bid to win shoppers from other retailers.
Morrisons said it is running the deal at a number of stores nationwide. A spokesman told Retail Week: “It’s a great opportunity to remind our competitors’ customers that they can get the same great value at Morrisons but with even better service.”

What do they mean at a number of stores? (to me that means only certain ones)

    I've been Money Tipped!
I hope the staff at the tills get fully trained up as of all the BIG 4, Morries staff seem terrified sometimes when they see a coupon.
Luckily I've got to know the "good" ones and have few problems now, but honestly Morries have been the worst at taking coupons (even though they'll be reimbursed).

Great if it goes to plan though.

  • Yes it does only mean certain ones for the time being. I forgot to mention it initially. I may be able to provide a list in the near future for you guys.
  • I agree that the Morrisons training has issues. We were briefed about this new promotion less than 24 hours before going live with it so I'd say expect a few possible problems with the staff over the first week or two.

Morrisons are always a bit more suspicious than other supermarkets with home/self printed coupons so I tend to get them posted to me to save the aggro !!!!
  • Morrisons are always awful at accepting my coupons, Tescos are definitely the best for taking them!

  • Totally agree with the comments on Morrisons taking coupons, they are a nightmare. They call over a supervisor, who takes ages to come, then takes your coupons away to the office, then eventually comes back and tells you they are ok to use. Try to avoid shopping in there when I have coupons.
