Demoralised- what's the point?

Thanks everyone for the moral support, it helps a lot. The Working Time Directive is a bit of a grey area- as I'm a field based rep I'm somewhere different every day so I cannot include a lot of the travelling time in that 48 hour period, which is daft- I quite often do a 12-hour day... Maybe I should start taking Mondays off to cut my hours and look for a new job! :rotfl
I shall keep plugging away, it could indeed be a lot worse, that DFD will not only be a huge financial release but it'll mean I can finally let go of the past... Then it's holiday time! Although I may have to do a caravan hol rather than camping- got conjunctivitis last time I stayed in a tent! Bleurgh.
Thanks again for the support and let's stay frugal! xx
Minx, I was a field service engineer, quite often doing those kind of hours stuck in traffic. It really encroached on my personal time, my daughter was very young, and I was missing her growing up as she'd more than likely be in bed by the time I got in.
I asked for a pay rise to help soften the blow and to at least have a life in London instead of an existence.
Pay rise was denied.
I left.
They had to bring in people from outside of my area to cover the work, which was costing the company more time and money that the payrise I had asked for.
Even six months later, I was still getting calls begging me to come back.
I'm glad I didn't succumb as I now earn more than three times as much as I did as a Field Service Engineer
I hope you find a way out of your problems
Oh and the European Directive, I'm nearly sure it applies to field staff as well
Life is now good
