What are Sainsbury's like for Reductions?

Hello!

My local Sainsburys (Camden Town big store) closes at midnight.

I'm skint and was wondering what their late night reductions on food are like and when would be the best time to go down and snoop around for bargains?

  • I work for them
Ours goes like this 25% off one the night before the items date
e.g if its use by the 10th 25% off on the evening of the 9th
Then if it hasnt sold 50% off on the day of the items date then at 3pm 75% off
Anything left come about 9pm goes for silly money
2007 is my getting slim year
Total weight loss so far is 16llbs:T
    Total to go 15 pounds:eek:
Not no more as im having a baby:D

I was in my local Sainsburys at about 6.30-7pm i think it was (the store closes at 8pm) and got some mega mega bargains, such as:-

Innocent smoothie 1 litre was £2.99 paid 29p
Posh sausages 6 in a pack were £2.69 paid 29p
Egg bacon slice type thing in packet was 99p paid 19p
Boursin cheesy herb bits was £2.69 paid 29p

I got quite a few things that night, almost a bagful of stuff which cost me £2 something and should have been about £20.

Other times ive been in though i havent got as good a bargains as that.

When i used to go shopping often, there was a lady who we knew as 'the yellow ticket lady' and the lady on the till used to say that she would be in there every single night and everything she brought would have a yellow ticket. Fair enough, but surely theres a limit to the amount of food an old lady can eat everyday that needs using that day.

Depends largely what the amke-up of the area is, lots of students little reductions cos as soon as 10p is taken off they race out the door. Poor area big reductions cos people won't take them without a good reduction.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

My local Sainsburys is pretty hit and miss, but you can sometimes get some really good reductions near closing time.

The best thing about Sainsburys is that if you buy something that is on multisave, the full reduction comes off even when it is reduced to clear. Therefore, for example, they had pizzas that are £3.79 each or 2 for £5.00. This means that if you buy 2 you get a deduction of £2.58. In the reduced section they were £1.99, so I bought 2 and paid £1.40. This type of discount especially comes into play with the bakery products and you can often get packs of pastries and muffins for pennies or even for free.
