Selling something on a market stall

I think I've found a way to make a bit of extra money without it taking up too many of my spare hours (of which i have few).

There is a new little indoor market in my area which runs one day a month. It seems to be taking off, and I'd like to set up a little stall there before it all gets completely booked up! I'd like to make enough money through out the year to pay for Xmas, or maybe a holiday cottage hire for a week.

The other stalls already there sell handbags, second hand childrens designer clothes, handmade jewellry and cards and cakes, and some shops have got on board too selling pancakes, pork pies, beer etc. There is also a photography stall and art stall.

I was thinking that maybe a wooden toy stall would be a great addition, however I can't make wooden toys and don't know any companies that sell their products for this kind of thing.

I actually know nothing about this kind of business and I've been trying to find out online, but not getting far.

I don't suppose anyone here have any tips / ideas for this kind of thing?

Does anyone out there have any experience of buying wholesale to sell on on a market stall? Could anyone point me in the right direction on this?

I'd be grateful for any advice.

I'm not sure you have thought this through at all. The most important thing you need are the costs to see if it is even worth investigating, yet you don't have a unit cost for the items you wish to sell- you need to do that first, find a supplier and get exact costs, including VAT, delivery etc. As you are looking at toys you will probably need to be from the UK or at least the EU as you'll need the kite mark or equivalent on them. So find a supplier first and ask what minimum order you will need, it might be a couple of hundred pounds but it might be more- make sure you can afford that initial outlay.
