I think we need a sticky for selling books, it seems to be a popular thread title: try either of these

I recently used three websites.
Webuybooks.co.uk took quite a few of my old textbooks and offered a fair valuation. The minimum for free postage was £15. Sent them at 4pm and had an email at 8am to say they have received them and were checking them over. I was paid by 12pm. Definitely recommend. They pay by paypal (which i chose), bank transfer or cheque. Books, CDs, DVDs and games accepted.
Fatbrain - Took fewer books but offered more for the ones they did want. Minimum was £15. Three working days to acknowledge and check books (today!) They say i will be paid in the next 24-48 hours so we shall wait and see. I opted for paypal but they can pay by cheque too. Only take books
Zapper - Took more titles but offered much less on the ones that i compared. Paid by cheque (which i haven't received yet as they only checked my items in this morning). Books, CDs, DVDs and games accepted.
Couple of warnings - If you send your items and they reject them, the books get recycled NOT returned. It is worth packing them well with bubble wrap to ensure they aren't damaged in transit. The prices for the books are perhaps not as high as ebay however if you want to get rid of a lot at once, they are older editions or struggle to sell them on Ebay it is worth comparing the prices(postage can be crippling). Textbooks sell for much higher prices and not many fiction books were accepted when i checked.
I took one book at a time and copied and pasted the ISBN into each website in order to compare prices and then went for the one which offered the most.
Hope this is of some use.0 -
Greenmetropolis is a good site xThe feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!

If your in the North or South then try Loot.com for most things, (I prefer non auction sites), free to advertsie and you deal direct with the buyer0

In the past I've used the following for book selling:
Zapper
Green Metropolis
Amazon (both listing and trade-in)
Preloved
If they are uni/college books - perhaps an advert in the relevent department or posting on the institution forum (if they have one).MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
I've just listed a load on Amazon. 48 hours after i listed the first it sold for not much less than what i paid for it. The sites mentioned above like fatbrain etc are all fine and well but they offer very little in comparison. I know you can get your money relatively quickly but i don't think it's worth it.0

Ebay would be a good place to sell used books0

Great tips one and all. Got a few boxes of books that I have put off selling for ages!
Thanks to all who post comps!

I've just got two cheques from selling books. One from Zapper and one from webuybooks. They take mainly text books but Zapper accepted some fiction. I was content with the amount they offered and it gave me a chance to clear some shelves. :T
In case anyone is wondering they do pay up although it takes a couple of weeks. I'll certainly use both again.0
