No snow day sadly:( Not that we want a snow day to get out in the stuff...we want to stay warm in the house;) But, no more came last night, though the roads round here were mayhem last night...we even made the national news:rotfl: So off we trotted to school, eldest was flatly refusing, so cue a big argument at 7am. Grrrrr.
I just need some mushrooms today so I can make risotto for dd2 and I, dd1 is having leftover meatballs from Monday. I need to get a meal plan for fri onwards done and get food shopping. Maybe we'll go to T's after school on Friday. We're going to my sisters on Saturday for the night, so no feeding us sat night, just need an easy meal for when we get in on Sunday.
Tax credits tomorrow and maintenance Friday..phew:DI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
We had a load more snow last night which pitched. Our schools were open today though - it did seem a lot slushier than on Friday. Apparently, the town which is down the bottom of the hill had barely any left this morning; however my road is still nasty. Conveniently the road round the corner has always been kept clear - mind you that's where a certain HQ is!
I'm fed up of walking in the snow now - I want it gone.0 -
The snow round here is weird - some roads and paths are horrendous while others (ours for example
) is completely thawed!
Still loads in the village I work though. It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Evening:)
I've just updated my earnings with the council so benefit amounts all sorted at last:D
I had notification of my new water bill amount now we have a meter...£3 more than have been paying:eek: So I have rung them up and its down to £37 I think she said, hopefully we can use less and get it down more.
My mobile contract is up soon so will be getting a sim only monthy contract as I'm perfectly happy with my phone...hopefully that'll save me about £15 on my phone bill.
I also changed gas/elec supplier...gone to Southern electric which is a bit cheaper than I pay and they're starting my direct debit at £81 I think, that's was than the £100 I pay now. I don't know how my bill is so high, the highes the heating is on is at 18deg and its off a lot.
Groceries seem to be my downfall still:o. Spent about £70 last week as hadn't done a big shop for 2 weeks...but since then I've spent about £25 more:o I did buy cider to have at my sis on Saturday and she wanted snacks so got Pringles at £4, urghhhh, and she didn't give me the money...but not to worry.
Must get my car tax on Thursday...nothing like leaving it til the very last minute:rotfl: £74 gone though, damn.
I'm in my pjs, must get dinner on soon - burgers, fries and onion rings...grown up dinner:rotfl:I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Lots of money saving going on there. A nuisance about the water meter though. We'll be going onto one soon and I dread to think what our bill will go up to - it's only £23 at the mo. I can't see it getting any lower than that. It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0

Wow, £23 is low, shame you can't stay on that:( I wish I could get my water bill that low, but with my eldest teen happily in the shower for aaages, it's never happening:o I can be n and out of the shower, goodness knows why she has to just stand there for as long as she can...until I start shouting at her to get out;)I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Car tax paid yesterday, grrr there goes £74:(
I'm liking the milder weather, so heating isn't on very much;) I don't know how my heating bill seems high....I never have it on at more than 18degrees, I'll be happy when I can leave it off.
Thank goodness for Friday tomorrow, I'm so tired. Just off to wash my hair now to save a job in the morning and then have a nice early night with my kindle. I was looking at the bbcs list of 100 books you must read...and was embarrassed that even though I think I'm quite a reader, I'd only read 20 of the books. So I'm going to work my way through that list - have started on Wuthering heights. Also, dd2 is doing it in school so thought I'd help her as she's finding it hard to read:), I am kind:DI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Hi Pixie!
I hope you are well!!
Good luck with the reading....i'm off to look at that list in a bit - may give me some ideas. I read a lot of crime so I reckon I haven't read many on the list. I read Wuthering Heights as part of my 101 list! Not sure if I liked it or not!
Have a great weekend Pixie - this week has felt manic so I am pleased it is finally friday too!! xOrange Fairy

I usually read chick lit and stuff from Richard and judys list:D So not exactly highbrow stuff;) I wish I'd done english A level, I'd have read more of the classics.
I'm the same about Wuthering Heights....I'm not loving it, though I want to keep reading. It seems that all the events in the story are all quite uneventful, if that makes sense:rotfl: The reason Catherine goes a bit crazy just came from nowhere...and I felt like i blinked and missed hers and Heathcliffs huge obsession...I must be missing something:rotfl:
I have to keep reading though, can't give up now, got to say I've read it:D Plus dd2 is doing it in English at school so said I'd read it so I can help her. I might make a list this weekend of books I want to read.
How are you doing with your 101 list? I never got round to doing one....I'd never think of 101 things I don't think:o I love reading all of your lists though:)I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
I went through a stage about 15 years ago of trying to read some classics. I think I managed The Woman in White, The Mayor of Casterbridge, Pride and Prejudice and A Town Like Alice (not sure if that's classed as a classic but I really enjoyed it
).
I really should read more. I used to read loads of crime thrillers but as I've been a bit down recently I've been attacking the chick lit - I just want something with a guaranteed happy ending and not too taxing to read
I might have to look on that BBC list and see how many I've managed. It will be embarrassingly low I reckon.:oIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0
