"glitch" still working today in Kettering.

    6 x Garland Crest Shiraz £15.31 (2.55 a bottle).
  • Hi all,

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with this offer- we are getting married next year so I went and bought 33 bottles of wine for our table wine today. I'm having a panic now- do you all think these will still be good in a year? We bought the red and white JP and the garland crest rose.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

As I explained above, in the past it has worked on the ORIGINAL price for the 3 for £12 type deals, and on the reduced price when on the half price wines.
I wish you'd posted this before I went to Tesco today and found out first hand that the glitch didn't apply to half price wines and reductions on champagnes :o.

As a result I didn't spend a penny at either of the Extra stores I visited.

I bought 6 of the Ogio rose wine today. Its currently half price at £4.99 and 25% came off no problem. Paid just under £22.50 instead of nearly £30, before the half price reduction Tesco claim this wine is usually £9.99 but of course I would never pay that.
    Very pleased. Thanks.

Hi, We did the same! We bought the Garland Crest, I read lastnight before we bought them, in the storage details on Tescos website that they are best consumed within a year of purchase so should think they will be ok if stored correctly, we are getting married next spring. Planning on putting them in a cupboard that doesnt get to hot or cold and forgetting about them, I think the storage of wine effects their condition in the long run but we dont drink wine really so dont take my word! Hope that helps alittle

Oh, does it not? Has anyone tried it on the bottles which are half price etc please?

I wasnt being awkward!! Oh does it not!!!! I believe from many glitches that I have done that this is a glitch because the item is scanned at the original price and then discounted! But the second discount applies at the price that the item went through at!

    ie 3 botttles for £12
    3 bottles at £5 each =£15
    25% discount = £3.75
    £ bottles for £12 discount = £3 so £6.75 in total

    1/2 price wine

£9.99 reduced to £5.00 (for ease)
    no further multiby discount
    25% of the till price of £5 = £1.25

I was only trying to help!! A glitch is a glitch and this is a glitch because it takes off the 25% discount before the multi buy discount and I have never seen a 1/2 price reduction doing the same as it goes through the till at half price, not ful price and the discounted!!

Jeppy, you've misunderstood my comment. I wasn't being funny either - sorry if i came across that way! I was genuinely just trying to figure out if the glitch was present on buying the half price wines as I thought somebody had suggested that it was so I wanted to check.

Having worked with pricing in a retail head office environment I understand the complexities of layering promotions and know that a glitch of this nature is not impossible so I was just wondering if it was happening in this particular case.

Anyway I'm always grateful to everyone who posts around here. There are lots of super helpful people and I love this site! Thanks all! :)

Also in case any one doesn't realise once you've bought 6 bottles the 25% discount works for the boxes of wine too!! So got 3 good boxes of wine as well!

    Red wine 3 @ £5.79
    Sub total = 34.74
    Wine 3for12 -£10.74
