Lloyds 'refusing' to switch DDs

Hi All,
It is more like ignoring than refusing really
I had to open a safe basic bank account with HSBC, we also switched (what was) our joint account and my husbands current account. I have a DMP starting on the 28th.
I moved my DDs myself as there were only a couple. My husband's were switched straight away, his account is always in credit.
At the same time he applied to switch our joint account DDs to a new account in his name. Nothing happened, my husband contacted HSBC to see what was going on and they said they had written to Lloyds 4 times over a period of four weeks with no reply. The account is about £44 in credit but I don't want to put any money through it in case they use the right to off set. In the end I faxed HSBC a list of DDs and I hope they get them sorted out in time.
Are they allowed to do this, they haven't strictly refused just ignored the request from HSBC. They have not been contacted by payplan yet and I have not yet missed any payments with them. They sent me a letter saying they have reduced the limit on my credit card ( as if I care) due to information from 'other agencies'
I owe them £9200 in total with one OD one CC and one loan.
Are they allowed to do this? Should I make a complaint to the ombudsman?

Thanks for the reply, I think that is what we will have to do if things don't move on soon.
I just find it strange they have done nothing after 4 letters.
Well done on ditching the fags by the way, I stopped 1st oct 2001ISA £1675

Hi moohound
We were worried something like this may happen when we were transferring over our DDs so chose to cancel and reset up each one individually.
If you have online banking with Lloyds TSB, you can cancel the DDs online as soon as you see that the new one is set up with HSBC.LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Send Lloyds a complaint, signed for, complaining about their incompetences and claiming £10 per hour for the time you spent dealing with this. Don't forget to claim back postage too.
No reply or no pay and you go to FOS. Even I'd you lose you cost them a fair bit in time, postage and FOS fees. Would make me feel a bit better if they messed me about
Oh. And just cancel them online and re set up or just contact companies to change details.:beer:0
