I don't agree with sweeping statements by and large, even from grandads (who are oracles in my experience). Some people need a bigger car, childminders, people like me who need to haul about large equipment. I didn't ask for it to be a gas guzzler, and I would rather it wasn't but I can't do my job (or one of them) if I can't transport the drum kit. Have you ever tried to get a 7 piece kit on the bus or in a taxi?
Toto, i'm sorry but I have to disagree about transporting the drum kit.
I also play (semi pro) in a band... our drummer has the biggest kit you have ever seen, and he manages to get it easily into his Ford Focus 1.8, and before that, he used to get it (just) into his 1.2 Clio!
IMO if you can fit the bass drum in, the rest of the kit should fit around it easily as the stands all fold up... the only problem i can see is if you have to transport extra kit like kettle drums or big auxiliary percussion.0 -
I have two 24" kicks in a hard case, in fact the whole kit is hard cased. I play double bass and although I have a double bass pedal I prefer 2 kicks, I have 2 floor toms and 3 regular toms. Add to that a couple of snares I would usually take with me, a full sabian paragon series cymbal set 3 crashes, 2 chinas, high hat, ride and 3 splashes etc, hardware, stool and a box of sticks... a focus, I would love to see that, most of the time only I can manage to get it all in my car, it has to be packed in a certain way. I own a sound company so I am very used to packing lorries etc but it's tight even in my car.:A

OK thats bigger than i expected
That must all take a while to set up0 -
hahaha yes it does, that's why god invented drum techs :rotfl: I have been doing this for around 15 years though so I can get the kit up in about 20 mins from car to sound check, that's assuming I haven't hired it out and someone has changed all of the angles.
If it is a studio gig I take less, if it's a low paying gig they get kick, snare high hat (
kinda kidding) Lots of times the kit goes in the backline bus but I still need to move it from home, but plenty of times I turn up at the venue with it all in the car.
What do you play? Has your band got a website I can check out?:A

I play the sax... which will fit in just about any car

and sometimes keys (not quite so easy)
This is going a bit off topic now, so I will PM details of our band0
