my grandad has a saying: "if you have to ask how many mpg or what the tax costs on a new car you're looking to buy - you can't afford it" and he's right.
If people can shell out for the Band G gas guzzlers (which are on average £30k plus) they should be willing to pay the £300 per year for their tax.
My car tax has gone up by £20 for the year and yeah, it'll hurt handing over that extra £20 but at least my HGV's wont cost more!;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)0 -
I can't get a pasword emailed to me from the msn calculator, see even the internet knows how grumpy budgets make me, it's forcing me to stay away.:A

I don't agree with sweeping statements by and large, even from grandads (who are oracles in my experience). Some people need a bigger car, childminders, people like me who need to haul about large equipment. I didn't ask for it to be a gas guzzler, and I would rather it wasn't but I can't do my job (or one of them) if I can't transport the drum kit. Have you ever tried to get a 7 piece kit on the bus or in a taxi? My other half plays drums too, he has an old ford transit with a 2.5 litre engine. The people who don't need to worry about the increase are usually the people who really don't need a large car. The chelsea set who drop their single child at school in the middle of london 3 streets away from where they live, they don't care if the tax is £4,000 a year, they have the cash... not sure about the need though
If I could have an itsy bitsy car I would, but I can't. And yes I will take the rise on the chin, yet another occupational hazzard to being a musician, even the car insurance is more expensive if you can get insured, sometimes I think the insurance companies think we are all Keith Moon, drunken and drugged as standard :rotfl::A
