Husband and I live in Spain and are paid UK State Pension there directly in to Spanish bank.
His birthday 13 Dec, mine 26 Feb. Both claimed before 2010.
Can anyone tell me what is our pay day. Both pensions are received on the same day which can be anywhere from 30th of month before due up to about 9th of the actual month.
I need to book our car in for a repair but need to know enough money will be in the bank and need the pensions for that. I can't yet work out what the pattern of payments is!!!"

maybe 4 weekly?
give us a list of dates
but better have a decent float in your bank a/c or readily acessible savings.0 -
Thanks for that. Yes it does appear to be 4 weekly on a Mon, Tues or Wed now that I've looked at a yearly calendar! I've been so used to having monthly pay. It's taken a long time for me to query this!!
Your last point is absolutely valid but the pension only just covers everything and I guess I'm not the best money manager! We've suddenly had a lot of high unexpected costs all at once. My fault I know. Still at least now I can predict the income.0 -
I assume it arrives in your Spanish bank in £'s and you then convert it to €'s. how much does this cost.
It is normally better to have your state pension paid weekly as it is paid in arrears and having it monthly means you are marginally worse off. However it may not be possible if the payments are being made overseas. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
We don't get the choice it has to be monthly or rather 4 weekly as I have now realised!
It is converted by the UK before it reaches our bank and although I don't know the rates they use I believe they are better than the banking ones we ourselves could achieve.0 -
I would expect that the pension is paid on the same day every 4 weeks, and that it's vagaries in the banking system (possibly due to public holidays at either end) that are causing the irregular payment0

My pension is paid on the same day every four weeks.
Every fourth Friday.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Yes I guess the variation in days could be due to public holidays. Especially here! We do love a fiesta!0
