Here's how I make the basic, quick tomato sauce:
I've just made this for my tea and my word it was nice! I shall be working my way through the rest of your recipes if they're all this good (and easy)! Thanks GR :-)Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -

:j Glad you like it. It was DH who started being heavy on the olive oil. I think it works well. Makes it almost creamy.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I am very impressed gingham I don't know how you find the time, especially with a new baby. Anyway and ideas for a fussy veggie DS who doesn't like eggs pastry, mash or quorn. He is the only veggie in the family. But his list of dislikes make it very difficult for me to think of dinner for him when I have been to work all day. Everything he dislikes seems to rule out most easy, quick, I am hungry right now options. And I dont think it is good for him living on pasta and pittza.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I don't use quorn as a rule. There are nice cauldron sausages that are tofu based for quickness and are great in casseroles. (See my first menu planner. Link in post 1.) Rice and noodles, pasta, bread, bulgar wheat, couscous, quinoa and millet might tempt him, but I'm going to be pointing out ways of adding meat in at the end when making veggie dishes which should make it easier for those with veggies and meateaters in the house.
Does he like potatoes, just not mashed? Have you tried taking his potatoes out of the pan and mashing everyone else's? He might eat them boiled with a dab of butter on top.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I've logged in to post this so i can't chicken out later!:rotfl:
The galette au chou is made and in the oven. There is no way in the world that mix can be described as "dough"! It is most definitely "batter":D But it looks good and I've got everything crossed.
Be back later!

Gingham, can you please come immediately and remove this galette!:rotfl:
It is gorgeous, and I'm on my second slice already:o( they are smallish slices) Because of what you said, and my fan oven is quite fierce I cooked it at 160 for about 45 minutes, then upped the heat for five minutes to really brown it off. The "pastry" seems quite light so now I'm in a quandry. Because it was getting so sloppy I added only just over 200 mls of milk, not the 250 the recipe states. Next time do I add the full amount
I used bacon in mine, so didn't salt my cabbage at all thinking the bacon would do that. Next time I'd use a very little salt to season my cabbage. Oh dear it's calling me to have another slice! (I didn't have lunch, and only a satsuma for brekkie:o )
Thanks Gingham, another addition to my repetoire:T :TYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Thanks, CM! The galette is on my menu plan for the weekend - even DS has agreed to try it. I thought it looked and sounded yummy.

It really is yummy!! I've covered it with a clean tea-towel to shut it up, you know like they do with birds:rotfl:
Just for reference, I know Gingham said her container was too big. I did it in a pyrex pie dish 8 1/2 inch diameter and it fitted perfectly:D
Did you want to invite me round when you make it?

I'm delighted that it turned out so well. I'll have to find a better container and try it again.
Love your signature by the way!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
