Do you make your own pastry??

    What is tartrex?

    Ta!

.... there's a Tartex which is a (delicious) yeast paste suitable for vegans and is available from Holland and Barrett among other places. Ideal sandwich spread? That what is meant?

Just spotted this thread, moseyed on in from elsewhere.

I have to ask... GR, where have you been all my life?? As a veggie always on the lookout for healthy low-fat recipes (I'm doing Slimming World too), this looks a fantastic thread.

Now, to go back through the pages to find this galette I've read so much about....

    Hello!

The galette recipe that I've linked to earlier in the thread contains meat which obviously isn't needed. But read through the replies as we've got it down to a bit of an art now thanks mainly to Churchmouse. You need less milk than it says and a lower, slower bake. About 200ml milk instead of 250ml, and turn the oven down a little to let it cook longer. Up to about 50 minutes if necessary. link

Thanks GR, I shall be giving this a go. There'll be a fair few syns (sorry to the non slimming world types lol) in the pastry but it looks like it will be worth it. This could be the best use for cabbage since colcannon. Jeez, I'm off work on Thursday and can hardly wait :)

There are veggie alternatives for the meat, such as Streaky Strips or just a Quorn alternative - seems a shame to take something out and not replace it with an alternative.

Can we have the recipe for caramelised onions and goats' chees tarts please G-R?

    Thanks Gingham.

I wonder if you (or anyone else) have any recipes which don't involve tomatoes though - I must be the only veggie in the world that's allergic to them!!!
For those intolerant or allergic to tomatoes-or trying to cut them out. There is alternative products which are organic and included non- tomato passata, beans & sauce,Its called NOMATO and is availbable at some health food shops. Details here .
    great thread gingham .

... I have a great recipe for a Quorn Sausage And Baked Bean Bake if you are interested? If you want it, PM me - as there are tins and packaged Quorn sausages involved it's hardly basics so I won't insult Gingham's thread with it. I picked it up on Slimming World and it's become a firm favourite.

EDIT: Doh, beans are in tomato sauce. Think man, think!!!

As long as it's not breaching copyright, please do post it. I'm sure we'd all be glad of it. (I have quite a lot of weight to lose so if it's okay by slimming world, it's okay by me!)
