Flan/quiche?! I'm quite pleased with my first attempt though it definitely lost a little of its charm cold the next day.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I'll get back to you on the chickpea burgers soon. My friend makes her own too so I've asked her for her recipe as mine are from the Vegan cooking for One cookbook so I can't copy it out on here.
The h/m mushy peas are just dried peas soaked overnight then rinsed and brought to the boil, simmer for a good hour and a half to 2 hours and that should do it. Don't have them cooking too hard or the skins come off. We have them in a cup with vinegar and salt or pepper on cold nights. I don't know if it's a Scottish thing or a 'my family' thing but we always had it on bonfire night too. I think some people cook them with gammon or ham (is that the same thing?!)May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Gingham, there was a long discussion about recipe copyright over on the BBC message board a year or two ago. The resulting answer was that the way a recipe is written - actual copy - is copyright but not the ingredients or method and you can replicate the recipe, , without breaking any law, as long as you do not copy the original word for word but do so in your own words.NSD 0/150

Thanks for a great thread, Gingham! Not veggie here but will try your recipes - they look delicious especially the now legendary galette!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
Squares: 11, Animal blankets: 20 -
1 can of chickpeas rinsed and drained
1 small onion or 2 small spring onions chopped finely
1tbsp tomato puree
1 tsp majoram or available herbs
2oz wholemeal bread crumbs
Yoghurt or egg to bind
wholemeal flour to coat
Whizz the chickpeas, or mash.
Add the rest of the ingredients and bind with the yoghurt (maybe a couple of tablespoons) or egg.
Shape into burgers and coat with wholemeal flour.
Fry in vegetable oil.
Adapted from this book.
My friend uses the same recipe so I've adapted the vegan one. She uses vegan yoghurt to bind it but maybe some extra tomato puree would work just as well.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Good morning, everyone! I'm doing my meal plan and have seen a lot of talk about how delicious the lentil lasagne is. Searched all through the thread and can't find a recipe.
Could someone kind point me to it?
Many thanks, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
It's in the old menu planner. There's a link at the start of the thread. I'll have a look for it for you. I'm glad you're making it too. I was thinking it would be good with some salad in the summer months.
We had a couple of friends over last night and I made them Troll's bean burgers. They said to say thank you to her and want the recipe. I have made them twice (as I forgot I was having them over) and the second time I put sweetcorn in them too, and we didn't have fresh coriander so used a little dried. They really are delicious.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

Thanks, Gingham! It's now in my plan. We're really struggling here - a resolution was to eat *meat free* 2 days a week. This thread means that it's more like 7 days
