To err is human, but to really mess things up you need a computer.

    Fill the 5-gallon bottle
Empty the 5-gallon bottle into the 3-gallon bottle, leaving 2 gallons.
    Empty the 3-gallon bottle.
Pour the 2 gallons from the 5-gallon bottle into the 3-gallon bottle
Fill the 5-gallon bottle and use it to fill the 3-gallon bottle. That leaves 4 gallons in the 5-gallon bottle

    If someone could confirm

The only thing i've found is this but this is with empty buckets.
    Fill the 3-gallon bucket.
Pour the 3 gallons of water into the 5-gallon bucket
    Fill the 3-gallon bucket again.
Fill up the 5-gallon bucket with the 3-gallon bucket, leaving you with 1 gallon left in the 3-gallon bucket.
    Empty out the 5-gallon bucket.
Pour the remaining 1 gallon of water from the 3-gallon bucket into the 5-gallon bucket.
    Fill the 3-gallon bucket.
Pour the 3 gallons of water from the 3-gallon bucket into the 5-gallon bucket leaving you with 4 gallons of water in the 5-gallon bucket.

    Tenth Anniversary
Step 1 : Fill the 5 gallon jug and then pour it into the 3 gallon jug. The 5 gallon jug has
    2 gallons left.
Step 2 : Now throw the 3 gallon water away. Pour the 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug to the 3 gallon jug. So now the 3 gallon jug has just 2 gallons of water.
Step 3 : Fill the 5 gallon jug again, and pour 1 gallon to the 3 gallon jug. What do u have left in the 5 gallon jug ?? 4 gallons of water.. !
