Thanks TTGU, I heve just completed lvl 2 hence me going onto lvl 3. It was completing the nvq that made me think I could go onto the nursing. I haven't yet applied for uni, this is to get onto an access course to enable me to apply for uni. Open uni does do nursing but it has to be backed through your employer and I guess within a nursing environment i.e. if I were a healthcare assistant in the NHS I could use the OU. Alas I am not
But you are a health care assistant somewhere if you are doing you're NVQ?
If so you could possible do this...
http://www3.open.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/qualification/t01.htm
I know people who have done the social work equiv of this to get into social work degree.. It was the universitys choice to accept that as an adequate qualification...
Sooooo, if you do fancy it check with the uni that they will accept it before committing to anything!
You should maybe talk to the uni directly anyway as some let students in based on life experience etc once you are over 25
You could totally sell yourself with the NVQ2/3 and this shows your ability/keenness (not sure thats a word) to study!!March 2013 LBM so here goes....PAID OFF £6944! Unfortunately have built it all back up again! Amounts to be added up soon! Scare myself into action! 30/05/2018 LBM 20 -

Hi TTGU...
I am a home care assistant not a healthcare assistant. Although I have been looking at jobs and you can actually be payed a lot more for doing a lot less than I do now
I did look at that but it still needs to be employer backed. Also I am unsure regards to funding etc. I am unsure if that and my 'life experiance' will gain me access to the uni. Speaking to them on open day its a very hard course to get onto, the uni I looked at said 4 applications to one place. Other uni's have 6/7 apps to one place. I think NHS funding doesn't help a course like this as you pay no tuition fees, if you still payed the fees I bet it wouldn't be as hard to get into.
I think I have settled for GCSE this year and then re-evaluate it. I may do fine and get into the access next year. It will also give me a year to save and be in a better financial position than I would be in a few months time.
Thanks for taking the time to replypostingalwaysposting wrote: »I am being given an increase in my credit limit which has allowed me a huge breathing space.
Maybe not!Having my meltdown this week has lead to me overlooking my CC account online. So with the interest etc it took me over my current limit and thus the increase was withdrawn. Thats what happens when you run before you can walk! Each time I was paying off a £100 chunk I would get them to reduce the limit (which is why I think they wanted to re-increase it) that plus not keeping an eye on it has cause this trip up.
So anyways I am back to saving for my MOT... I want to save £450 before 16th Aug. My mot isn't due until the 27th but because of my shifts it will have to go in on the 22nd. Thats 7 weeks = £65 a week. So the CC will be pushed back to £35 per week, that will still cover the min payment and more.
It will mean I have £0 money myself until the mot but I really don't want to rely on the France money for my mot as I want to use that for my debt and to start a uni fund. I have worked out I need approx 3 pairs of trousers for france and some white tops so with any luck I can get them if I take on overtime
Hope you are all having a great weekend!

It takes a speical sort of person to be a nurse so you shouldn't give up on that dream...
I did first 6 months of nursing, but was too much for me. I got in without great maths at the university discretion, but that was 6 years ago so maybe they are more strict now.
They brought out needles on my first placement (my biggest fear in the world and I fainted before it had even gone into the patient... that was my 'cant be a nurse' LBM hahaha)March 2013 LBM so here goes....PAID OFF £6944! Unfortunately have built it all back up again! Amounts to be added up soon! Scare myself into action! 30/05/2018 LBM 20 -
:rotfl: TTGU @ needles. I haven't given up, just a set back!

I haven't heard such rubbish in my life!!
So I ordered that seat for my car, it was out of stock so they refunded me. However because my paypal account is funded by direct debit paypal put a hold on the funds. I thought that it was fine as come Monday the direct debit will clear and they will release the funds... Will they hell! 5 days! 5 days! They take to accept the direct debit and assign it to my account. In this day and age
End rant
Life has kinda stoppedI had all these plans/ideas and now because of the news I have no idea what to do/what I want to do.
:cool2:0 -
5 days is ridiculous, hope you don't urgently need it for anything?

Just dont see it as life having stopped.
Just take time to take stock & regroup.

TTGU, no I didn't need it, although my petrol is running low. At least its payday Friday so hurry really. The only good thing is it's instant transfer back to you current account. But still 5 days! Dinah posted a link on her diary about a fab outlet on ebay so I am watching things for France. So it may not all go back to my current account
BTW I have sourced a car seat for a donation... Now just to get lil brother to go and collect it
Beanie, ok maybe the wrong phrase. The thing was I had plans but decided not to do them because of college/funds so what do I do now? Mainly Nov holiday and Cake show, also there are other things I would like to do but do I put the whole of my energy into saving fo next year? If next year even occurs?
I think I am lost as I have no 'aim' except the MOT. Before this even came about my inital goal (for this diary) was to save for a car, then it was car alongside holiday, then it was nothing as I were going p/t for college. So what do I do now? What's my goal?
