Just standard - would never use handle and slider things never work for me:opostingalwaysposting wrote: »I think you have summed it up really! I will need to look into things, ie will I get a student loan etc. But I would love to get a career, don't get me wrong this is a fab job and I have never been happier but unless you want to become a manager and then end up behind a desk you are stuck at this level. Plus its not stimulating enough, especially when you are put with the same people/runs. If I could study/train and still work p/t it would be a compromise... I need to spend a few hours looking into it/see what courses I need etc. But huge thanks for getting me thinking about it, I might even be able to start next Sep  We shall see...
Go find out NOW! you don't have to do it this year but start looking at your options. Not sure how loans work in England but up here they aren't too bad if you are doing nursing, a couple of girls from my course are going into that next.Mortgage OP 2025 £6250/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Sorry all missed your post's while typing... Ekkk it 'could' work, maybe I could make something of myself?postingalwaysposting wrote: »I need to spend a few hours looking into it/see what courses I need etc. But huge thanks for getting me thinking about it, I might even be able to start next Sep  We shall see...
So just spent the time betwwen my last post on a google mission. I can study at a local university but I will not meet the entry requirements, or so I think. Therefore I would have to do a part time access course for 1 year costing £2,110. That would take my study time to 4 years. Or I would need to do a foundation degree through the uni which has an unkown cost.
One help would be this info found on the college website -If you have very few qualifications you may be able to study for free. The government is introducing loans in 2013 to cover tuition fees for students who have some qualifications and who are over 24 at the start of the Access course. This loan will be written off as soon as you pass your degree. Please contact the college’s Learner Services Team for more details. Loans and bursaries are available for university study.Plus if I ask for that would I then get a student loan to pay for Uni? From what I have read I could get a tuition loan to cover the uni course fee and a loan to cover living costs. But then there are NHS bursarys
There is an open day at the uni on the 8th June that I may go along to if only to ask some questions. Technically if I saved like mad before Sep 2014 I could do the access course and enter uni Sep 2015?

I don't think the handles are needed really. Although I like the idea of removing the strap, but then its something to carry, I hate having my hands tied up :rotfl: I hope you enjoy using it.0 -

No fees for nursing degrees in England either, plus there is a very small non-repayable bursary from the NHS towards living expenses.........If this is cyber bullying Pap tell me to stop, I just think you would be such a good candidate I am behind you with a pointy stick!0

Beanie/Skinty, thanks for the offer but moving that far will be too much for me. If I am to go on and do this I would need to feel settled, hence getting a uni close to home.
Toots, no you arn't bullying me silly. I honestly have been thinking about it but I thought I could do a P/T degree while still working but that will not be the case. I never knew course fees are not charged for nursing courses, the thing that confused me is the 'fees' (scroll to bottom) part on the uni website.
So I have two choices foundation degree (1year F/T) through uni or Access to HE (1year P/T) through local college then degree in nursing (3years F/T). I am unsure how funding works for the foundation degree and I am unsure of the costs however if I do the Access course I could apply for this? In which case I could still work (you go to college 3* days per week) 2 days per week. But what whould I do for living costs? If I only get living costs when doing the foundation degree/nursing degree I would be stuck.
I have calculated that for my rent/insurances/internet/breakdown cover I need £3,844 a year that excludes car repairs/petrol/MOT/materials. If I work 2 days a week I would only net £80 a week which is £4,160If I could do the P/T Acess course it would be my preference but without funding I would have no chance.
I think I will go to that open day, or at least register about going and see if I can get some questions. Unless I write a huge email to the uni admissions team? Also what happens if I am not accepted to my local uni, there is no way I can afford to move to a uni?
