Good advice. They probably charge a cancellation fee too, whereas just not renewing doesn't cost anything.

If you look at your insurance certificate or schedule, it will tell you exactly when it runs out (usually something like midnight on the 14th May), so you just ask your new provider to start it from then.

As far as when the final payment should be, they will probably also have sent you a payment schedule, but whenever I've had insurance and paid monthly, I've paid a month in advance, and if yours is the same, your last payment would be in April. Your first payment to your new provider could be more than one month's premium, so check out what you have to pay upfront, particularly if finances will be tight that month (haha, who am I kidding, my finances are always tight :D).

Well I got it wrong, its actually ends 3/5/13 at midnight. That would make sense as I pay on the 4th  I however don't have a payment schedule as I may have shredded that, another :doh:But I am guessing if I started paying in May 2012 then my last payment would be as you say in April.

:rotfl: At finaces being tight, here too! The quote online for my new insurance states - 1 x £67.77 11 x £67.64 = £811.81. So I am guessing my first premium will be £67.77, if I keep back the whole amount I usually need for the 4th my thinking is that it will cover the first insurance premium and my road tax at the end of May ;)

    Many thanks Snags :T

Now the next 'problem' I forsee in my future is the car's MOT. Its due on the 27th Aug. I have two options...

    1) Pay the min payments on the CC and save everything else, then repay CC with anything left after MOT.
    2) Pay down the CC and then put the MOT on that and hope I have enough to cover it..

Out of interest the MOT cost £310 last year... I am unsure if it will be more expensive the last garage passed the window screen, I am unsure if my new gargae will? Once the loan finishes and I am on a lower insurance my bills will cost £307.12 a month. This excludes petrol at £40 a week, working on a monthly income of £800 after tax I should have £332 to play with.

If life was simple it would be boring :rotfl:

You should have a year's NCB now if you've had the car insured for a year, will make a big difference to your quotes :)

So would I actually but life is never that easy :o

Sparkles, I have sent you a PM :j
  • next week I should get paid 22 hours plus 1 day SSP (£11), the following week I will get 3 days SSP (£33) plus 13 hours. So approx £152.90 and £116.85.

So I got paid my 22hours but no SSP, now I am woried I will get no SSP at all for the following week :o However looking at the budget I should be fine it just means I can't save anything towards my car insurance :wall: I will obviously still contact work to see if I am/was entitled to the SSP but shall wait to see what happens next Friday.

    £368.30

£277.05 bills (this is teh whole amount not due until the 15th)
    £50.00 CC
    £40.00 petrol

    367.05 :T

So the next few weeks will be up in the air regards to my budget but I can work through that. Next Friday maybe the week I will now need to put my petrol on the CC. However looking at my rota I may get away with only a £10 top up or maybe none at all :D

Also I believe I will not have to pay for my rent these two missing weeks (tom and next friday) as I have mentioned going 'somewhere' on holiday in the autumn, even if its only London for a weekend or Wales for 3/4 days. So that £80 will be Mums contribution to the hotel/b&b :T

So not looking too bad considering :o

Make that none as I forgot that I am on holiday from next Saturday :T

I got petrol yesterday £32.23 and I also purchased some drinks and reduced toys for OCC (2* drinks, 6* kalidoscopes, 3* mini cars and 6* whooppe cushions) £2.00. I also had to replace a bulb on the fish tanks £12.99 but that hasn't fixed it. I need a new started unit £33 but that can wait and it can run on bulb for a while, fingers crossed my plants survive. The £12.99 will be replaced on Friday.

  • Real reason for this post is to show off my sig. I have been spending quite a lot of time on the DFW board, just reading really. One of the threads really touched me and specifically posts made by Funky Bold Ribena. So with his/her permission I have added it to my sig!

So I decided to have a gander and see whats out there. Most of the caravan sites we have used are closed for winter for the dates I have, however I have found Devon for £113 and Wales for £126 but we have decided if we go we will take the dog with us (extra £30) which will be MSE in the long run as we won't be able to leave him so no expensive museums etc ;) although as you know I do very MSE holidays anyways.

They have an offer on whereas if you book within the next 7 days its 'only' £70 deposit but I am not pre booking! I will wait until Aug/Sep and pay in full with savings :T

Something to look forward to once I get debt free and before the car/salary saves start!

Happy Mothering Sunday all you Mums :grinheart and Mums to be ;)

Thanks Taxi, it will only be a week in wales and mostly a walking holiday but it would be nice to do something. I want to aim to do a big holiday next year which is another of the places I want to see before I die but we shall see. Torn between two at the moment :o
So I got paid my 22hours but no SSP, now I am woried I will get no SSP at all for the following week :o

I didn't but I think I may not be entitled. On the gov website it says you need to be sick of 4 days in a row and you will get payed on your 5th, this includes non working days. So I should have got paid for Tues and Wed, all of £24. Now do I bring it up with my employer or not?

Anyways loan paymnet went out - two to go :j So this is budget after...

    £172.31

    £11.02 ~ House Insurance
    £37.10 ~ BT
    £22.08 ~ Dog Insurance
    £8.92 ~ RAC

    = 93.19 remaining.

I need no petrol this week as I have half a tank and I am off for 10 days. I am going in next Sat as its a special occasion for someone but I will be payed 15 hours and I will get that days holiday back. However its down the road so Mum will drop me in and prob collect me, if not I will use my car. Plans for this week include walks/garden clearing, all free or there abouts.

So I will be using that remaining wage to cut my hair (I have some henna to dye it but it really needs a cut circa £10), £1 shampoo and purchase groceries.

Home life is pants at the min because we appear to have a person living here that expects it to be run like a hotel. We now have no groceries (I mean none - frozen fish, custard, jam, popping corn, split peas and mince is about it) and I had to put petrol in Mums car on my CC (She will pay it back next Friday), there is also no tv or internet (thank heavens I pay my own) no toilet rolls, no dog/cat food, no household cleaning products and if the other person doesn't stump up their rent no gas/electric

So I am making a meal plan using what we have in the freezer to see us through the week and will spend about £40 on groceries. There will be no treats, no nice stuff I will cook a meal each night and thats it! I will go out later tonight and let you know the damage. The £40 will basically be my rent for this week but it will be put to good use! So really Mum has only contributed £40 to the holiday but ho hum. Sometimes I wish I can move out but things were fine months ago and family life was great, why should I spend all my wages or live in one room for £70 a week just to please one person!?!

That will leave approx £30 to which I am saving to throw at the CC :j

Sorry this is such a rant but sometimes I really despair :wall:

Have a great weekend all
