Morning hypno. Glad to see the site is working again, I missed you all yesterday! Have you agreed a start date for your new job yet? With luck you'll get a nice fat paycheque in December.
The mess here is really getting me down too and I felt a stab of envy of your mum's clean empty house too.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Hello! Clients all done for the day, so back home - just had a cheese ommelette for lunch and now having a coffee before I start to get productive (!) this afternoon.
I am hoping to start work properly a week on Monday - but I am going in tomorrow to "shadow" just to confirm that I do want to do the job. I think this is so they can be sure I want the job, rather than anything - I expect they have a fairly high turnover of staff! Of course I KNOW that I want the job!! All vetting papers are in, so I am just waiting for the nod really. I have no idea what date is payday - woo hoo, there is a word I haven't used in ages!!
I have now started turning new clients away, which is a strange concept, and is a little difficult to do!
I have also given myself a deadline of Christmas week to get the house absolutely organised. I get a week off over Christmas and I am absolutely going to refuse to spend it in a tip. So, I have 6 weeks to get on top of things. Hmmm.....might be easier to clear the £42k of debt I have!!!
Seaxwyn, are you up for a 6 weeks to a tidy house challenge?? You will probably winSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Oooh, please can I join in the tidy house challenge, I've completely lost control of mine and I did so well last time you did a housework challenge!
Thanks for the comments about my sig - I changed it after chatting to Duchy about aspergers 'stuff' the other day. The only thing is, I well up every time I read it, even though I wrote it myself..... :rotfl:
How's the toothache? Not too bad I hope.
Duchy - hope you manage to get things sorted today, and have a fantastic holiday."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Snaggles, your signature makes me well up too - it's beautiful.
Hypno, an emphatic YES to the six weeks to a tidy house challenge. When/how do we start? Any rules? I'm thinking that as we have six rooms (more or less) I could do a room a week.
Snaggles I'm not sure you're eligible, having seen the photo of the super-tidy room you posted a while back!
Was going to suggest we post 'before' pics but I'd die of shame.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Of course you can, Snaggles! The more kicks up the backside that I have, the better!! Seaxwyn, you have already beaten me on the financial challenge, so I am aiming to even things up a bit!!
Not sure how I will do it, whether to try flylady again, or to do one room a day/week and keep it tidy while I tackle the next one, or simply to say "I will get my act together and by Christmas my house will be a nice place to sit".
Hmm.....I would do "before" and "after" photos, but I would be too ashamed! I will work on the basis that Pania has seen my house at its absolute worse, so she can vouch for any improvement (or otherwise!).
I have four rooms downstairs, plus loo and utility and four rooms upstairs plus 2 bathrooms.
So, therefore, 6 rooms downstairs, 6 upstairs........a 6 week challenge.......2 rooms a week, which have to stay tidy once done, for the remainder of the term of the challenge during which time other rooms will be tidied, remaining so, and so on until it is time to open mulled wine and eat mince pies.......There we go - these are my rules, adapt them to fit accordingly!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Well that's one advantage of having a small house, I only have half as many rooms to tidy.
What order are you going to tackle the rooms? Let's try to do the same ones at the same time. It may be a bit babyish but I find it so motivating to think of someone doing the same things as me!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Lol Seaxwyn, you wouldn't be saying that if you saw how that room looks at this exact moment! The super-tidyness was during my nesting phase before I gave birth. Thanks though!
We have 3 rooms downstairs and 3 upstairs, so I'll do the challenge for 3 weeks, and then challenge myself to keep them clean and tidy for the following 3 weeks (that will be the difficult bit I think, as they seem to get untidy so quickly)."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
I think I will need to do the kitchen first. And my en-suite needs a good tidy and sorting, so they will be my first challenges..........will be done by the weekend!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I find this too. That's why I do flylady on the OS board. If I'm going to be cleaning the toilet I want lots of other people doing it as well!
Goodness hypno, sounds like you have your work cut out with a house that size!
Mine is currently like two different houses; downstairs is clean, tidy and uncluttered. Upstairs looks like a tornado has swept through - in an effort to have a massive pre-Christmas declutter I've just made everything ten times worse! And every area I declutter creates more jobs (ebay, freecycle, charity shop, bin, sellotaping toy boxes back together, organising photo albums, rearranging drawers and wardrobes) and at the moment I am busy filling a bag of tat for my Mum to put on the bric-a-brac stall for Children in Need fair she helps with.
I remain convinced though that one day I will turn around and everywhere will be finished though!0
