Hi Choclover - thanks so much for your message.
Have just been crazy busy with all sorts of things and trying to work extra for some extra pennies too.
Have taken my eye off the ball a bit - holidays, family weddings, celebrations, etc have meant that we did get out of overdraft completely but are stupidly now back in it a bit. The next three weeks are ludicrously busy but after that I hope to see exactly what damage has been done and start getting it sorted again.
Thanks for reminding me to come back here for sensible advice and to get my head screwed on properly.GC June £78.50 / £250, May £262 / £250.

I definitely need to be here for help with the long-term slog.
Finding it hard to keep within spending limits. Especially as Christmas approaches!
I want to do lots of homemade presents but finding the time is so hard.GC June £78.50 / £250, May £262 / £250.

Aaaarghhhh. Have been doing okay. Managed to keep Christmas spending to a lot less than in previous years but we are now in the overdraft again by £75. So annoyed with myself.
Every time I think we are doing a bit better, we relax and stop being so strict and it all goes to pot again.
I am so in awe of people who have been so strict for years and managed to get themselves out of all debt. So disciplined.
Hope everyone is doing better than me.GC June £78.50 / £250, May £262 / £250.

Glad you're still plodding away, I must have missed your previous posts. Hope you had a good christmas and well done for spending less! It's a great achievement as it's sooo easy to get carried away at that time of year.£2013 in 2013 £866.71/£2013

I'm not too bad, thanks teatime. I've joined the earn £2013 in 2013 challenge to keep me motivated to earn some extra money. I've listed some items on ebay, but it's slow going. I've only managed £28 so far, but I guess it's a start. Hopefully it will help me declutter the house too, which can only be a good thing. It's also helping me to keep busy as I hate this time of year - it's soooo boring!£2013 in 2013 £866.71/£2013

Ha - I have the opposite problem - mad busy this time of year with work!! (although I guess it can be quite boring too)
The challenge sounds good but I have to say I hate ebaying. I feel like I spend HOURS doing it and all to make a measly 31p or something. I know it's better than nothing but I just feel I don't have the time at the moment. Decluttering will have to wait til after the end of Feb. But then I can hopefully get a bit of time to do some proper spring cleaning and might manage to make some extra pennies then.
Mind you, I have been earning some extra pennies by doing some extra shifts.
Okay, away to get my hoovering done. Bye for now.GC June £78.50 / £250, May £262 / £250.

Well I'm on maternity leave atm but due to go back in a couple of months, so I want to get it done before then. I know what you mean about ebay though, maybe I just don't have stuff people want? If things sell, they usually only go for 99p! I'm selling off baby clothes and have put good quality ones on individually but will start putting job lots on just to get rid of it! I've got three sizes of baby clothes to get rid, and in 2 months time she'll be out of another size!!! I did manage to sell some monsoon clothes on there that I bought for a wedding, I think I got £30 for it, but I don't buy nice clothes that like anymore
. Good job too, as I put on quite a bit of weight and now I'm starting to loose it, so there's no point me spending loads of money on clothes as (hopefully) I'll soon be moving down to the next size

Oh yes, I did sell a lot of baby clothes. Did it all in big lots - much easier.
I now have loads of friends with kids so clothes the boys grow out of get handed down. Luckily, I have kind neighbours who give me items of school uniform their kids have grown out of.
I remember the stage too where your weight is up and down all over the place - now it's just a fairly steady increase - oh dear!
Good luck with your selling. Good on you or sticking at it.
Do you have more than one child? Great job getting the debt down while you have a baby!!GC June £78.50 / £250, May £262 / £250.
