'Cooking' bacon

Firstly, what else are you going to do with it?
After extensive research (Morrisons, Tesco and Lidl), I can categorically state that Tesco's is the best. It's 74p for 500g, thinly sliced and not too salty. Morrison's is second and Lidl, third.
I found Lidl's to be very salty and there were some very thick pieces of bacon in it, that needed slicing up. It was also the most expensive.
Thought I'd share these pearls of wisdom.

    I've been Money Tipped!
How about using it for ministrone soup and other soups??
I also use bacon bits in bacon, leek and mushroom sauce - pasta meals.
    Quiches another option??
Scoop out jacket potatoes, mix with bacon, cheese and onion and re-fill.

    Thanks for the research.
74p per 500g is cheap, never really bought it and normally buy reduced bacon "whoopsies" and Lidl offers, but will look at this.

Are there any packs that don't have a mix of smoked and unsmoked bacon? I prefer unsmoked.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

I use it in Carbonara, and soups. Sometimes you get rashers which may be thick, but they still work!

Don't buy bacon myself, find it too salty. But you could stretch rashers out and use it like Prosciutto to wrap chicken breasts, Mozzarella, fish fillets etc Or cut into smaller bits and line ramekins for a twist on oeufs en cocotte.

Tescos do and it's nice :)
I use it for sandwiches for work, I put it on a piece of kitchen towel on a plate and microwave it so it's not greasy.

What is cooking bacon, as opposed to regular. Is it belly of pork, sliced a bit thinner (although more thickly cut than regular bacon), and preserved?

I use bacon for pasta sauces, sandwiches, covering meat (ie: poultry breasts), and flavouring casseroles, so assuming could be used for similar purposes?
    Oh well...

By the bacon, but probably quite low on the shelf as per legislation. The cheaper the product the lower the shelf. Get on yer knees if you want a bargain.
