Do not speak with them at your property. Just ignore them. They want to do that so they can add more fees. Only deal with them in writing. If you wish to pay the bailiffs then enclose a cheque with every letter you send and only ever send the amount you can afford. Do not send any more and do not borrow money to pay them off. If you can't afford it then nothing happens. The debt returns to council and you can opt to deal with the council.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I find myself haviung to deal with these pirates in regard to council tax.
I received a hand delivered letter from them whilst I was out of the country and have tried to talk to their head office and also to my local council to get the matter resolved, both saying that I have to deal with the baliff. I now phoned the baliff five times and have left messages for them to get back to me and am still waiting a week later.
My question is this:
I live in a rented fully furnished flat and have very few posessions that would be worth anything to anyone else and have very little resale value for a baliff. My girlfriend also lives at the address and has a few things which might bring a little bit of money to the baliff but again not enough to clear the debt which is solely in my name.
What action can the baliff take in the circumstances, I am not saying that I refuse to pay the debt, I just want to know if I can refuse to deal with the baliffs, so that the debt returns to the council and I can then deal with the council amicably?
I am also worried as I will have a friend of my potential mother in law staying over the next few days and I don't want an awkward knock at the door, especially when I will be out at work. It could seriously mean the end of my relationship if that were to happen.0 -

Doesn't anyone have any advice for me in this matter?0
