It's uncanny.....

It's uncanny.....are we being watched?

Having had a good grumpy rant concerning the tax code debacle at HMRC in another thread.....what should drop through the letterbox some ten minutes after posting, but a very humble letter of apology from a nice lady AO at HMRC Liverpool!

I would like to emphasise, my gripes regarding HMRC's performance on this issue is most definitely not aimed at those HMRC workers...'at the coal-face'...

but is most definitely aimed at those who make policy decisions, for which they got paid inordinately massive sums of public money....either as implementers, or as contracted advisers....and senior management to boot...maybe, even though a few years down the line since they made those decisions....they should be financially penalised for the mess they have left behind!

It really is time those policy makers are held more accountable!

Especially for errors which come to light from previous assignments!

darn it..there goes my pension!
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

that is spooky, i know what you mean though with upper managment vs those at the coal face, the plebs generally dont get listened despite the token "suggestions" box and the guys at the top generally do 5 years or so then move on to another highly paid top job

    5 years or so

that long? Most of my department's whizzykidz move on after 2 1/2 years!

This 'career path' ethos leads to very weak management.

And weak management appears endemic in the Ministry I work for....both civilian....and Service.

Too much concern over how speaking out may affect career moves.....therefore, senior management eventually only wants 'yes-men' under them....[ you say 'jump'...I say 'how high?']...therefore, no-one who could have influence, dares to challenge the policies...hence, we all end up with an upper tier management which is endemically weak!

could not agree more having worked for NHS for 27 years- no one listens to the actual workers. Found senior management to be another planet altogether.
