lol.. I can't sleep.. but it would help if I was in bed!! lol

I have so much I hope to get done this year, I actually owe more this year than I did in DEcember '07 so I am aiming to remedy that ASAP..

My BHS storecard has expired and my credit card is being binned.. I WILL get this under some kind of control..it might well kill me, mind!

This was our second consolidation too.. the first one was added on to the mortgage.. I have got that paid off now though, it took me 3 years!! We owe what we borrowed now which is a bonus! every penny paid now is a step in the right direction!

This year I haven't added loads to my Next debt or to my BHS debt so that is a good thing.

Sonycard is next.. and my overdraft is being reduced over 18 months at £167 a month. 13 payments left before we are finally for the first time ever without an overdraft, it will be so nice living in the black once again!!

yeah I missed my little d's next to...well just about everything on our statements :D

It's a hard choice to make to do a consolidation, when you lowered your outgoings are you seeing the benefit of it??

Our first 4 we did to lower ours as we were drowning (£400 short a month!) but even though we lowered our payment we still overspent (this is the danger)

once we finally sorted out the overspending we had an extra £120 a month so the way I did it was to addup what we paid in dd's on debts and added the £120 to it..then got a consolidation loan over the time which matched what we could pay..bit of an a*se about face way to do things but it ensured we COULDN'T overspend..

The cards we consolidated were at 17% and 27% aprs and the loan was at 6.9% so it was a no-brainer in the end.The past 22 months have been hard to stay on track but it was worth the pain!!

*wish the kids hadn't left the tin of roses next to me..want a choccie*:D

ooh I'll have a hazelnut whirl!! I LOVE those!!

We ended up £600 a month better off when we did the consolidation and even now we are still around £300 a month better off despite the extra outgoings.

I have £350 to pay out over the amount of hubbys wages each month which means we SHOULD have £1800 'spare' to do the food shopping.. but it all just seems to disappear.. I need to account for at least some of it I think.. other than his salsa classes and my nail appointments and probably £50 a week in the pub..

*chucks over a hazlenut whirl..or two*

Yes we have the same problem here at the mo..invisible money..not sure where it is slipping off to
I'll have to dust off my spending diary again that usually helps, whoever had that idea is a god in my eyes lol..
I think thats why I ended up throwing it all at the debts because i knew we were just wasting it really :o:o it wasn't on stuff we needed it was just going on stupid things which I couldn't even say what they are now and probably don't have anymore!ooh the shame..
    Never again tho.

Although I plan to get extremely tipsy on our debtfree day  :rotfl:

lol.. my debt free day seems a lifetime away!!! especially now we have added £2000 to it.. but everything is getting minimum payments apart from the one I am tackling.. I HAVE to be rid of some of these and I know at least 3 things won't EVER be run up again once I've paid them off which is great to know.

I am off to bed now.. or I'll NEVER get up at a decent hour tomorrow!

  • Thanks for the link pigpen - its a truly inspirational diary - I understand now what you meant when you post that 2009 was going to be a debt killer year!!! I am going to join you there - I am not brave enough to post my debts on the site but will write them all down and start tackling them - how do you keep track of what you owe - is it just from the statements or do you have a spreadsheet or book???
You have done amazingly well - I [STRIKE]hope[/STRIKE] know you will achieve your repayments/pay off debts this year as you are one remarkable lady!
    toots xx

  • Way to go Pigpen - and I love the diary idea - I keep a spreadsheet (I LOVE spreadsheets...:D ) and it shows each month as I go down so I can see at a glance what is being paid and what isn't, it's such a buzz isn't it...

Will keep an eye on how you are doing and hopefully it will encourage me with my own debts too... well done! :T :T :T
