NRAM direct debit problem for March '12

Morning all,
Apologies if this has been posted by someone else already.
It would appear that NRAM have had a major problem in collecting March's direct debit from customers. I should know, I am one.
My payment left my account on the 1st as normal and was paid back to me on the 5th. Upon enquiring, the agent at the contact centre on advice from the "finance dept" stated it had been paid back because they thought it was "too much" ( me too, any chance of renegotiating! lmfao ).
She couldn't categorically tell me when my direct debit would be collected. I left the conversation with no further idea of when my mortgage payment would be requested. So, questions need to be asked I feel, like, "are you going to adjust the interest on my balance as you returned the payment?" and suchlike. All the blurb they've sent me and on their website indicates that if you pay by direct debit ( as they're formally separated from Northern Rock ), I need do nothing.
Luckily, I check my online banking every day.
Anybody else experienced this? If not, what else should i be asking them?
Regards
Daddyswede.

Daddyswede and others,
I have experienced very similar- I noticed that a payment was not taken (April 12) and called to query, whereupon I was informed that payment had, in fact, been received. This proved to be inaccurate and payment was made later to settle the arears.
However, the real problem arose when I tried to establish a payment method. I was told that NRAM's "new payment system" is unable to receive DD payments from many of the largest banks (including HSBC, NATWEST, HBOS and Lloyds TSB) and that if I wanted to pay by DD I should open an account with another bank! A massive inconvenience.
Can this be right? Is it the start of more problems for NRAM customers?
More news would be very welcome.0
