Ok, confession time ! I spent £50 (from current account) on a dress today BUT my reasoning is it is for my birthday celebrations and I haven't bought anything new in ages.
Also paid £25 to the credit card.0 -

Thanx abba !
I think if I was really strict with myself the debt would be gone alot quicker but I wouldn't be very happy and have no social life. I'm only going to be this age once and I might aswell try to have the best of both worlds with paying off the debt and having a little bit of a life outside of work.
£5.00 paid to the credit card today.0 -

Just did the snowball calculator for the double glazing loan. Safe to say this was the biggest financial mistake of my life (I hopefully won't do anything as stupid again).
Loan was for £3000, taken out in 2008. 4 years down the line and only £462 is off of the balance. The interest is 25.19% at the moment but is variable.
According to the snowball calculator if I paid the monthly payment required at the moment, it would take until May 2019 to pay it off.
I can pay up to double the monthly payment each month, but no lump sum payments will be accepted on top of the monthly payment unless it is the total amount of the balance. Which isn't what I was told when I took out the plan but I have lost all of my fight from dealing with this company in the past.
According to the snowball calculator, if I pay double my monthly payment each month, every month, I will have it paid off by August 2014. A huge difference. I really want to get this gone, so depressing looking at the amount of interest I will have paid by the end of this. Never again.0 -

Just read through your diary *subscribes*. It sounds like you're doing really well with your debt busting.
Enjoy your dress, if you didn't treat yourself every now & then if you're anything like me you'd probably end up having a massive splurge.LBM 24/05/2012 :TAugust NSD 10/12 * £2 savers0 -
well done on the over payments
is your credit good enough to get a 0% deal perhaps and transfer balance from the double glazing so you can actually pay the balance rather than the interest? xx

Nearly a year ago I remortgaged. I got nearly 2k paid out which I was going to use to pay off the double glazing. Unfortunately the dispute I was having with the housing factors of the building came to ahead at the same time as the remortgage was going through and they put some sort of paperwork in place that I couldn't remortgage without paying them off first. It was a nightmare. In the end I had to pay the majority of the 2k to the housing factors and fees to the solicitors for sorting all of that out.
Bright side was that the housing factors got off my back, dark side is I STILL have to pay them to do absolutely nothing.
Every time I work something out for the dreaded double glazing I get hit with something else. I'm a little fearful about getting any more credit in any form even if it would help in the long term. Which I know is crazy but everything else has gone so badly0 -
