OS Daily 5th March 2012

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 5th March. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone
Couldnt see a thread so have started it today.
Not very excting here at Chez Bitsy, more building work (but end is in sight
) and puppy watching interspersed with cleaning. Might attempt some baking depending on what workmen are doing (internal french doors to be fitted at some point which is in kitchen).
OS.....erm waiting for my new BM as other one died a death. Not a lot of OS oops
Hugs and spoons all round. Have a good day OS or not.

Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Clear, bright but very windy here this morning, everywhere drying up nicely after the heavy rainfall yesterday. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
Now realising how much I rely on being organised as haven't done a menu plan for this week so don't know what's for dinner tonight or any other night this week, need to get this sorted tonight - hate starting the week like this, everything seems a mess! If I get away from work on time tonight I will hopefully be able to get home and do a menu plan, get the pack-ups etc done early, prep our dinner for tonight, and I may be able to do a bit of ironing - will feel a bit organised then. We're not away this next weekend so will be able to utilise Sat morning too whilst DH is at work - need to get organised though as we're approaching the time of year where we're away in the caravan at the weekends.
Not much else going on here.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Hi Bitsy, hope that Luna is doing well. Morning all!!! have made two new friends on facebook from here (but no idea who you "really"! are!!!). Today has dawned lovely and sunny which after yesterdays rain is wonderful. Have washing in machine ready to put out and today will be a day of taking things to the tip and continuing to move furniture!!! Am trying to make the house look more spacious to the viewers!!! Hard when we have a lot of furniture that we don't want to get rid of!! Tea tonight is something I remember from childhood - left over chicken and mixed veg in a white sauce parcelled up in puff pastry.
Daisy dog (puppy) has sneaked up on to the chair and is sneaking spilled coco pops (tescos cheap ones) off the table!!! Boys are already screaming at each other - thank goodness for school!! Have washing and last nights ironing to put away. We're a week closer to getting a statement - 1 down, 9 to go - yipeeeeMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all! Bitsy - i went to look at some labrador puppies yesterday.... black ones, OH said no
I miss having a little baby pup around, I'm sure my dog would love a little brother too!!
Good weekend for me, went to Northumberland and Leeds, saw my sister, went out for dinner with the OH fun fun. OH got a cheque from the tax man for £3000 from over paid tax as a far back as 2006! So things are good here, going to use the money to get car put on the road, and pay off some more debts.
Anyone here doing WW? I am,have lost 7lbs so far.
OS - need to put a few washes on in between work today, cooking chicken, leek and cider pie for dins (WW Recipe) and looking forward to a long soak and an early night!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Morning all, another bad night. Toooo stressed about work. So far behind now just don't know where to start, and having to take yet another two days out for conference. Add to that teaching today and friday and even keeping standing seems impossible. And of course wakin in a sweat about it all every night means i'm now going in shattered. Waiting for biopsy result not helping, nor fact i cant afford any more time off work at th mo to go visit dad (just out of hospital after op for cancer, about to start radio). Got really cross with mum cos she was making 'constructive' comments about work, saying how i could use the experience in a paper. All i really want is hugs
so yesterday felt bad about gtting cross with her on top of everything else. And i know i'm one of the lucky ones to still have a job. One of our group got laid off beg jan. She didnt get on at all with our now not so new boss. I feel i'm next in the firing line if i make negative comments. Oh dear that's a long moan isnt it? On the up side had a very nice time yesterday evening prepping supper for tonight and starting stew for tomoz.

Morning all,
Bright and breezy here, have been trying to get through to the Dr since 8.15, I have discovered that my sore throat is in fact ulcers, my tonsils and roof of my mouth are covered, and it so sore, think need an antibiotic or something, anyway no appointments for today, so need to try tomorrow. They are feeling a bit better from yesterday, and will try some honey and kiwi's today
Off to get my haircut today, which is a rare occurrance ( I have not been for at least 2 years), I have a voucher for £10 off a cut, so am treating myself. Need a few bits whilst in town too.
Dinner tonight is mince in gray and mash with loads of veg, need soft non acidy food atm.
Got a wash on the line, and have had a quick tidy through.
Esmf, have sent you a friend request,
Have good days all xx0 -
Redruby have you tried gargaling (sp) with milk it often helps if you have mouth ulcers A chemo nurse told me as I developed quite a few when I had chemo a few years ago That and Corsadyl mouthwash kept most of them at bay.I had to rince my mouth out last thing at night with milk.It did help quite a bit I don't know why maybe there is something in the milk that reacts with ulcers.
Well children all delivered to school and a bit of ironing to do.Then a trip round to Dds to let the dogs out for a wee and then home for lunch and the O/therapy lady is arriving at 1.45 to access my needs so fingers crossed .
Apart from that NSD today as I have enough in the house for lunch and dinner so I shall save my pennies for another day
Hope everyone has a good Monday
Cheers chums

Morning all,
Bed stripped & remade, bedding now drying outside as it's lovely and sunny here. Need to vacume & polish upstairs. DH will clean windows outside whilst I do the insides, we end up pulling silly faces at eachother, once he threw a bucket of water at the window and I ducked, even though I was inside:rotfl:
Having DGD later, she will sleep over and I'll take her to play school tomorrow.
Taken some s.steak out of the freezer for a pie for tomorrows dinner. I chopped and froze 3kg of ys onions last week so just have to get some of those out.
I go to the outdoor market late on Tuesday when they are selling f&v for pennies, so I always stock up.
Lots of ironing to do and must cut the grass as it's shot up, first cut of the year.
ESMF, when I clicked on your link I got BARGAINBIRD'S FB page.
DUNDEEDOLL, sorry to hear you are having such a hard time atm, have a virtual (((((hug)))) from me.
BRAMBLE, my DD2 has a golden and a choc labrador, they are a handfull.
Where's HESTER this morning ?

Morning
Dry and windy here today, hands got very cold pegging out washing. DD home this morning, study leave nice to have the company but distracts from what I should be doing! That said have done load of washing, DW on, pastry made for HM pie for tea to use up LO chicken and veg from last nights roast, and kitchen given swish and swipe. Packed lunches include HM bread from Saturdays bakeathon. Also finally got round to fixing little bag in a bag that I keep in my handbag in case I pop to shops for bits, saves getting carrier bag, handle had come unstitched and darned small hole on shrug.
Just time for a cuppa before I battle the wind on the way to work.
Positive thoughts to all.Thoughts to all. Mrs D.
