Hi, had a letter arrive this morning from AKTIV KAPITAL saying that My wife owes £3514, and they are prepared to offer a full and final settlement of £702... My wife thinks it was an old barclay card debt going back 10 + years. I have printed the statue barred letter, do I wait for another letter or do I send it of recorded ? They state they may also send my account to a doorstep collections agents who will recover the debt, if I do not reply to this letter or do not phone them.
The letter is also in my wifes maiden name, where did they get my address from with her details?? Any help much appreciated

Possibly fishing for someone of a similar name, but if it is hers it would be statute barred.

Very very very very unlikely that anyone will visit, but if they do they have no powers. You just tell them to "bog" off. If they don't go, you call the police.

At this point I would probably wait to see if they write further.

If you do feel the need to write, then the letter in this link would perhaps be best.

Many thanks for getting back so quick, It is the wifes maiden name. After what I have read in previous threads about this company, I will wait and see if they write again, if they do I will send them a copy of the template letter. Once again many thanks.:D

Just to update, they sent another letter requesting me to contact them for ? money my wife owes, sent of the template letter and their reply arrived this morning stating that the account is statue barred and the account is now closed.......
