I am looking for mens leather shoes - Are Tesco shoes ok?
Should I just go for Clarks?

I think it depends on your budget really. Personally, I buy a lot of shoes from ebay. You can pick up a pair of almost new Clarks for £10-20.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Hi dosco,
As this isn't strictly an Old Style question I've moved your thread over to the I wanna board to see if you can get more replies.

It depends what you're looking for. I keep banging on about this, but they are such good bargains - grade one surplus RAF parade shoes, available from various surplus shops online, for about £20. They have a full leather upper and lining and a very tough vibram-type cleated sole, but are comfortable and smart enough for formal occasions (I'm wearing mine to my forthcoming wedding!)
There is also an army officer's brown oxford shoe which I have ordered for £46 on ebay, unworn, with full leather upper, lining and sole.
There's just no way I'd buy the tat that passes for most pairs of shoes in the shops nowadays.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -
Does your town have a Clarks factory shop? These are well worth checking out as are Marks and Sparks Outlet Stores.
I like the brand "Northwest Territory" and these and other good brands are available on amazon in a greater variety than you usually find on the high street.
ebay is a suprisingly good source of discounted good brands like kickers.
Army surplus stores often sell good classic very high quality mens leather shoes. They are often much better made than the standard high street offerings. They tend to only stock them in regulation black though - no high fashion offerings. They also have proper repairable soles and heels if you like to wear in a pair of shoes and keep them for years. Well worth doing a google if you have one close to you.0 -

I use the leather black lace ups from Asda every day for work. Bargain at £16.0

I'd rather buy from Clarkes for a good every day shoe. They cost more than Tesco, but last a lot longer (womens do at least).
Also might be worth checking out Amazon. They have some good quality brands, often heavily reduced.Oh well...

Ive bought some cheap shoes from brantano and they didnt last long so id decided to spend more to get shoes that last longer and my last 2 pairs were hush puppies which are quite good.0

There are lots of places that do good shoes. However, from my experience Tesco is not one of them. I would try Matalan as they seem to have a good range. Ebay, Asos and Very are all other places I would recommend.0
