Sew a love letter for Valentine's day - anyone tried?

Options
I'm thinking of having a go at this:

I found the full tutorial for it (with photos) here:

I'm quite handy with a needle but have never done the 'free machine embroidery' that is described in the tutorial, but I am sure I could do it by hand.

Has anyone else done anything like this before?

I haven't done anything like it, but I'm tempted to have a go. Personally I will try to do it by hand as, although I got a sewing machine for Christmas I'm not confident with it at all.

Do you think your husband will appreciate it? Mine could go either way - he likes the things I make with felt, but looked at me like I was mad when I showed him the sock monkeys i'd made!

I know what you mean - that is holding me back from starting at the moment. I think he would appreciate the time and effort, but maybe it's more suitable as a mother's day card or something.

As has been said on other threads here, a 'gift' involving lingerie (or at least food/drink) might well be more appreciated by most men. However, one doesn't have to exclude the other, so I might give it a go anyway as it would make me feel good - although that's probably not the point!

:rotfl: I got really angry with my DH, he kept telling everyone it was a sock puppet!!!

I am so making this. I've a machine which sews letters so I had a trial run tonight & just love the result.
I'll be machining a line or 2 from a love song & I KNOW he will cherish it. Just need to decide which lyrics to choose.

    Thanks to OP for sharing.
