Help - I'm a mess :(

I'm planning out all my meals, which really helps as I don't suddenly decide to cook something, find I don't have the ingrediants and then go shopping again!!! Also I have to spend £3.20 on bus fares to go to the supermarket so the delivery cost is pretty much the same as that. I also find that I'm not tempted to buy all the offers or impulse bits and I can keep track of how much I'm spending, so I can rejig the basket if I need to. Rather than getting to the till, then realising I'd spent more than I meant to and not being able to do anything about it then!!

I might give it a go then for my next big shop in 3 weeks time. I could start writing my list now so I don't forget anything

I have a shopping list on my fridge that I write things on when we run out, which really helps, as I can just grab that when I do my shop up. Shopping just arrived and it was £39.70 for 3 of us for a week I don't think that's too bad. And I treated us to some bacon this week, as the boys love it in tagliatelle (and I'm quite partial to a bacon sarnie!!). How in earth did someone with some little income manage to end up with so much debt!
I really feel for you and your boys :-( I hope you manage to keep your head above water and sort this out.
No one should be suffering like this x
Should shoot the OP then as well, equal fault IMO. (obv I don't condone shooting people!!!

I didn't really reply to that post for various reasons. I'm not trying to blame anyone else for my situation (well apart from my ex maybe, but I can curse him under my breath!! lol). When I got that debt I was in a good job, married to someone in a good job and with no children. I can see why they gave me the credit. It's very different from the situation I now find myself in! But I am determined to sort this out in as positive a way as possible and get myself back on an even keel financially.

hiya.
the value cooking bacon is great for things like carbonara, quiche lorraine etc - as it's already chopped up.
it seems to last ages, but you can't really use it for bacon sarnies lol! it is very good value, way under a pound for a load.
i just portion it up for cooking purposes and put it in the freezer till i need it:)0 -
Hey all,
So sorry I haven't been around much, i've had a horrible week. DS2 has been really ill and got admitted to hospital after having 2 febrile convulsions. He's been released now and is getting better, but yesterday DS1 came down with a really nasty bug and is burning up and being sick. So all in all not a fun week (and I've come down with a cough and cold just to top it off!!).
But on the plus side I have some good news. I have signed up a new mindee today, a little girl goign to be starting in a couple of weeks, Mon-Fri 8-6!!! So that's £187.50 a week gross, obviously there will be some costs to come out of that, food, resources, trips out, but should clear at least £150 a week profit. Am so relieved, I was really starting to think I was going to have to give up childminding and go back out to work, but I didn't want to and not sure I would have made that much money by the time I had paid out childcare for both of mine.
I am actually really excited by this, it's been ages since I looked after a little one (apart from my own!) and that is what i really enjoy doing. And I'm going to be making quite a bit extra money to help clear my debts.
My friend took me shopping in Lidl today for the first time. It did seem cheaper on some things than Tesco, will see what we think of the stuff and how long the fruit and veg lasts etc. The nappies worked out a lot cheaper so I'm hoping they're good.
Anyway, I'm going to bed now to curl up and watch a DVD, I'm knackered from the horrid week, the cold and I'm worried DS1 might be up in the night again.
Will check in again soon,

Oh I am sorry to hear about your awful week. I hope everybody makes a full recovery soon!!
Good news about the mindee though, I guess you needed the positive boost!
I find Lidl fruit and veg OK as long as you study it well before you put it in your basket. The one near me seems to have odd weeks where the fruit and veg is past its best, but usually it is bigger and nicer looking than other supermarket veg. Tins and jars seem a lot cheaper than Tesco, unless you buy the really basic Tesco stuff, but they are nicer than that. They have some really good deals on too, they are usually advertised on flyers that you find near the exit doors.
I am in the process of writing out my online shopping list ready for pay day

Not sure if if's been mentioned, have you thought about tutoring?
Since you have a teaching degree you must have done A levels? My friend was tutoring kids for gcse maths/science/ key stage 3 maths/science etc, she didn't have a maths degree, but she did those subjects at a level, you have to prepare the lessons but the pay is £25 an hour these days!0
