    Have sent a letter to DCA re HSBC (£4128) and said would be making a token payment of £10pm until I get a job. Told them in the letter as I'm on benefits have been advised to make a token payment until my situation changes. Have paid them £10 already.

    Been looking at childcare, found a really nice nursery and childminder so I feel happier about leaving DD. Just got to find a job now! Heard from the agency today re the FT job I applied for, the company have recruited someone 2 wks ago apparantly!!! So how come the agency didn't know this?? Strange!!

  • Very strange Tigz. But, think of it as a trial application :) You got all your paperwork together, did a good CV and all that stuff, have done the research on a childminder ... so now you're ready when that perfect job appears :) I hope it comes soon.

    Am registering with a local agency this morning for PT work but will mention would consider FT if local and good job etc. There is a FT job going locally but pays only £13,500. I'll have more of an idea next week what salary I'll need to be better off working. I want to stay local to keep travel costs/times as low as poss. Would be good if could walk to work.

    Have done my figures for April, looking ok ish at the moment, but sure I've forgotten something. Have done it for 4 weeks starting from 3/4

    Total Money in for 4 Weeks = £480.00 ( 4 wks IS, CB & CTC)

    Money to pay out of CTC (Payable on 17/4 = £175)

    Bills = £139 (incl £18.50 for bal of cheap Sun hol with Mum)
    CL = £8
    Car Ins = £16
    Nappies = £12

    Total = £175.00

    Weekly Payments

    Food = £75 (£18.75pw)
    DD's Acc = £20 (£5pw)
    Petrol = £20 (£5pw)
    Xmas/Bday savings = £30 (£7.50pw)
    Car Tax = £15 (£3.75pw)
    HSBC = £10 (£2.50pw)
    DC = £20 (£5pw)

    Weekly total = £47.50

    In theory this should leave £115 left for these 4 wks. Thought I'd put half into my debt savings account (£57) so every few months I can make a payment to the biggest HSBC debt. This would leave £57 for me, so would have a £10pw budget for spends, and £17 for a buffer, for anything I've forgotten.

    I need to open another savings account for christmas savings/car tax.

  • Hi Tigz, things are looking good. Your planning is very well thought out and an inspiration to me ... I need to get to that level so I really understand what is happening to my money. Keep up the great work :)

    Grrrr - had a letter from housing benefit the other day, the rent officer has set max rent limit at £660, our rent is £700 and they'd agreed £700 last year but dropped it now! Have appealed but has been refused as had ltr this morning to say my weekly payments are £76.15 instead of full weekly rent of £80.77 so that's more money I need to find.

    So for April I need to pay £45.40 towards my rent. So looks like my debt savings won't happen.... I'll have to re jiggle the money around to find some extra to go into my debt savings.

    Decided to pay T Mobile off today using some of DD's savings. As I put towards it each month I don't feel so bad. It was just going up and up so thought best to clear it, plus won't show so bad on my credit file then. Hopefully anyway. So although it's paid, I still need to pay it back into her account.

  • Hi Tigz - bet it feels good to mark that strikeout in your sig :) Although you need to replace DD savings, there is no pressure on doing this - she is not going to miss them for a few years yet by which time you will have replaced them no bother.

    Sorry about the rent but at least you HAVE the money available to pay it (even if was going to be saved towards paying debt). Would that have happened a month or two ago?

    Hello Tigzem, well done for all the progress you have made in sorting your finances. Are you still using contact lenses at £8 per month? I wonder if you could do without them on the days that you don't use the car. Alternatively, some cheap specs (with the correct prescription) would give you some money to use on the debts.
    HTH and good luck with the job hunting - an employer somewhere out there needs you! :)
