Hi there, yesterday, i registered on the JD williams website but i don't think i read the tos ect.
Today, i checked out my credit file on credit expert and it has the following:
Entry Number: P1
Name: xxxxxxxxxx
Address: xxxxxxxxxx
Date of birth: xxxxxxxxxxx
Searched on: 11/01/2012
Time at address: xxxxxx
Searched By: J D WILLIAMS & COMPANY LIMITED
Application Type: Direct Mail Order Account
Does this mean they did a credit search? If so, do i have an account with them? What is a mail account?
Also, do you have a credit limit? If so where do i find this credit limit on their website on my account?
I'm starting to regret even registering on their bloody website.

It means you have applied for their credit account and they have conducted a search on your file.If we open a credit account for you, we'll tell you the credit limit we've given you - it will be at least £100. There's a minimum payment due from you when we send you a statement every 28 days - this minimum payment will normally start at 1/12th of the cash price of the goods and/or services you've bought from us. Once you've established a consistent payment history with us, we may decide to reduce your minimum payment. Minimum payment is £5.The rate of interest is 34.1% per annum variable
I would expect you will get an email/letter shortly welcoming you into a credit agrement which is going to cost you dearly.0 -

During the sign up process they ask how long you've lived at your current address. That's a clue that a credit search will be performed. And it's also mentioned on the last page of the sign up process.
You may be able to discover whether your application was successful and what your credit limit is by logging in to your account.
Wikipedia has an article explaining what the term mail order means.0 -
I would only use that if you're desperate to get into hock for tat."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

They can be quite good price wise, jsut pay the bill in full each month and then its intrest freeDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I have to agree with KingElvis on this one.
A couple of years ago I bought an Xbox 360 from them as I had a discount code, they were on offer and Quidco were still doing cashback.
I then got a couple of formal shirts a year later and I have to say that they were the worst quality garments I have ever purchased and not particularly cheap, even without the extortionate interest.0
