New years eve, never take the old year into the new as my mom used to say...0

For the first time ever, I've already taken everything down and put it all away. I wanted to do it yesterday evening, asked everyone if they minded, they didn't, so I went for it.
The thinking was that I really want to sort everything out this year, and didn't want to carry the old year forward, if you know what I mean.
I loved our tree, but it was nice coming into the living room this morning - seemed like a fresh start.

Yeah it is supposed to be the 12th night, 6th Jan. (I think it's supposed to be bad luck if you leave them up for longer).
I will probably take mine down tomorrow. I don't like leaving them up any longer than the 2nd, as I find it depressing as the festivities are over.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £16,087.170 -
Mine came down today, they're all packed away ready to go into the loft when hubby stops playing Call of Duty

My mum always takes hers down on the 6th but as much as I love Christmas and all the pretty decorations, by Boxing Day I'm starting to be a bit bored of them as Christmas is over, and I usually summon up the energy to take everything down on New Years Eve or New Years Day.0 -
Mine were taken down today feel a bit sad with them down as we didnt put them up till late because of moving. Its bad luck after the 6th jan if there still up.I will lose 2 stone by this summer!!!!!!0

Can't wait to take mine down, I tire of them so easily. I only put them up for 20th (DD1's birthday) so although 12th night is official I'll be making a start in the morning!0

I took ours down a couple of days ago - the tree was in the way and we were in a decluttery/sorty out type mood

We usually wait until 12th Night - but then our decs don't go up until just a few days before Christmas, so just about two weeks up in all. I can certainly imagine that if they went up early in December I'd want them down before Christmas itself!!Resolution:

I take them down and put them up whenever I fancy, I don't have set dates. I don't want to take mine down this year. The tree is so pretty and pink with the black branches. It matches my living room!
I won't be taking mine down this year until I have storage boxes to put everything away in so if they're up a bit longer, well so be it.Credit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011
