After 2 fantastic years it's coming back for 2012.....................
.................... The £365 in 365 day challange.
(ok so this year will be a leap year but £366 in 366 days didn''t have quite the same ring)
The aim: to put in £1 in a day from 1st January 2012- empty it on 31st December 2012 and spend spend spend in January 2013 sales.
In the past people have preferred to start saving straight after Christmas (plus a bit) so they can empty early and get Christmas presents, hence the thread starts today.
People are attempting this in many ways - feel free to take your pick or create your own:
Put £1/ £2/ £5/ £10 at intervals into a money box.
Transfer £1/ £2/ £5/ £10 at intervals into an online savings account.
You CAN include any extra money you wish as you go along.
You can choose to end earlier if you wish to use the money for Christmas.
Happy savings.

As 2011's may recall I failed miserably....... mainly due to the arrival of tinywiggle (DS2).
I took what I had saved to pay off credit cards before consolidating my remaining debt.
We are now thoroughly in control of our finances, christmas is all paid for with no outstanding credit card debts so I am ready to save into 2012.
I was very good and didn't pay for a new terumundi - instead I have 2 sealed tins from homebargains/ poundland - one for poundcoins (1 a day hopefully) and 1 for any 5p,2ps and 1ps that we started a few weeks ago..... when this is full I will cash it and add to the £1 pot.
Happy chatting,........... do keep us posted with your progress.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Well done Chickywiggle. Having a baby and clearing your debts in the same year is something to be very proud of. I would like to take up the challenge by putting £1 automatically into the savings account everyday. Don't feel comfortable having large amounts of cash in the house, not only from burglers but from myself. I'm always having to dip into my saved change for school and club activities. Hence why I didn't get very far in 2010.
I wish everybody a Merry Christmas and all the best of luck in 2012.

Hi Rachel,
By no means completly debt free ( i wish,.... 4 and a bit years and counting) but it is now more manageable as we have 'spending money' every month while paying off a sensible amount instead of having to spend on the CC every month becuase of how much we were paying on paying off debts.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Am so happy to hear of your success Chickywiggle. I'll attempt it again for the New Year, starting from the first day in January. I enjoyed it this year even though I dipped into it quite alot. At the end I managed to save £250 which I used for Presents. Merry Christmas! You are 48% tight
