Cooking Oil that doesn't spit!

Since having a new stainless steel hob I find that I spend more time cleaning it than cooking on it! I used to have an enamel cooker and a quick wipe was all that was needed, but even just a fried egg means a major cleaning job.
Can anybody please recommend a cooking oil that stays in the pan?!
TIA

I am afraid I can't but I can recommend using a splatter screen - like a mesh pan lid - it does the trick and you can also prop rolls on top to defrost or warm up ready for your egg 'n' bacon buttiesYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0

Believe me, I've tried the splatter screen but as soon as you lift it off to turn something the oil starts spitting, also you need to have somewhere to put it down as it's all greasy. I've tried a fryingpan with a lid and that's worse as the condensation that forms drips into the oil, and it spits even more!0 -
Agree, its likely to be water or that the pan is getting too hot and jumping around.
You could try the spray-on oils? I can't say they are very healthy (aside from a few of them -but not all- being low calorie) but in using one myself I've not had any spitting. I'd say don't use more then 3-5 sprays per pan if you do use these as they work just as well with the correct amount despite looking otherwise.0 -

Virtually the only thing I ever fry is an egg, so in this case I don't think it's water-related. I will try a spray-on oil - that might be the answer. Thanks for the suggestion.0 -
You would be surprised just how much water is in an egg :eek:Virtually the only thing I ever fry is an egg, so in this case I don't think it's water-related. I will try a spray-on oil - that might be the answer. Thanks for the suggestion.
I agree with the poster that says it is water and not the oil that causes the pan to spit, I use very little oil at all in my frying pan and it still spits at me depending on what I am cooking (and how cheap the cut)0 -
