It does use the pods from lidl.

We bought the coffee machine from argos last week, £34. Actually, the one we got is the newer model.

  • are there any major differences?
  • I bought this last week for £29 on Amazon....it is now priced at £63.70 on there.

The reviews on Comet prompted me to buy this as a Christmas gift :)

Only major differences seem to be the design

A few small differences such as, the new one has an adjustable spout so you can use larger mugs easier, a slightly larger water tank, auto shut off to save energy, descale function....

Pretty much the same machine though. Only £5 difference so if they don't have it in stock it may be worthwhile knowing.
  • How much are the pods in lidl? are they nice?

I think they were about £1.80 in lidl for 18 1 cup pods.

We only just got ours, so haven't had anything to compare to yet, but the lidl ones are good.

You can also get pods in tesco for about £3, but they are large pods, 2 cup / 1 mug size. So are roughly the same price.

I have heard you can also get a reusable filter called a duck or something, so you can use ground coffee if you want to.

There was a thread on hot uk deals about the Argos coffee maker and it had a lot of helpful information about the pods and accessories tha you can buy.

Lidl sell pods in 3 blends... Brazil, Colombia & Kenya. Melangerie brand Pods. £1.59 for 18. Gold Winner at 'The Grocer Own Label Food & Drink Awards 2011'. 9p a cup. I prefer the Brazil & Colombia blends, as they're stronger than the Kenya blend.

    Taken from hot uk deals

As detailed in various contributions above, for Senseo pods the current base line best value:
£2.99 buys you 20 mug size pods (ie 2xsmall) at Tesco ie around 15p/mug or 7.25p/small-cup (2 at a time)
£3.18 buys you 2 x 18 small pods Lidl ownbrand (Columbian or Brazil or Kenya) ie around 17.5p/mug or 8.8p/small-cup
  • Excellent, will be buying this as it will save me a shed load of cash for not going to Starbucks any more!

  • Bought one of these last year and really love it, I'm assuming the Coffee Duck will still work with it, it allows you to use any ground coffee. I usually stick half a mug of milk in the microwave and then top it up with the one cup button, luvverly.

Lidl pods work fine, I prefer the Brazilian ones, we also found proper Doue Egberts Brazilian pods for 99p in the , erm , 99p shop in Newcastle-under-lyme.
