Making looong stockings with sequin material (can't sew!)

Hi, last year I utterly fell in love with bombay duck's sequin stockings. I really wanted to buy them, they are only (!) £25 each! They have the same material this year but I swear they are shorter and more like a normal stocking. Theres a picture of this years here http://www.bombayduck.co.uk/decorating/christmas/Sequin-Christmas-Stocking-Silver
I have never sewn anything except a button or a cross stitch (and don't own a sewing machine) but would love to give it a go. Wondered if anyone knew of a pattern for a long nice shaped one and how much that kind of material is. Is that going to be really hard to sew due to the sequins? Would it be cheaper to buy an old dress like it and use it to cut out sections? I would love to make a silver one and a pink one like in the pics!
Thank you from a sewing newbie!

im a complete novice too, but i would just use something easy to sew - such as felt, buy the sequins and glue on! as i would imagine itll be hard to join 2 bits with the sequins on?!
or buy a cheapo stocking from poundland and stick on sequins
