Mum - £100
Is there any way you mum doesn't need this or can wipe it off
Petplan - £27.74
Don't know if this is needed, or if it could be changed to a lower rate?

Surrey CC OD Council Tax - £80 (ends March)
Not sure what these are (OD Council tax? tax you've not paid?)
Child Minder - £90 (roughly, depending on shifts)

Could you get a family member to look after the kids every so often to take the burden occasionally. Your income is pretty high together so I reckon their might be a way to get over this (maybe not a backrupcy but a IFA or some way of freezing the interest or something [I'm no financial advisor so dunno])

Diamond Car Insurance - £60 This seems really high, how long have you had the policy?
Don't know enough about BR to offer any advice, but hang in there, you've obviously been thrugh quite a lot, with a new house/ job and with a family you have a LOT on your plate, sp don't be so hard on yourself, search the Old Fashioned MSE ways for hints and tips, contact Pay Plan or similar and take it from there. Good Luck, Debs.
Thanks Debs
Fuel bills are down a lot since we switched supplier - but we're currently on a meter so it's difficult (can't get rid of them til April). Have freecycled my poor fish, switched off a fridge, and made concious efforts to switch off everything switch offable in an effort to reduce further.
Gas is impossible as the CH is broken, and we can't afford to have it repaired, so it's either off or on atm, and we need it on twice a day to heat water for showers.
Car is like part of hubbys pay package. He used to get a company car - now he gets that money to pay for the car if you see what I mean. So we don't get a choice.
Car insurance is high due to a medical problem I have, coupled with a slight altercation with a skip last year
.
Will be off to the OS forum later to get advice on my veggies. Am attempting to grow my own for the first time this year - wish me luck! Have planted onions and leeks so far.
Many thanks for the support.

Hi ashCarrot.
Thanks for the thoughts. Loans I am doing my best to snowball, but with the current upheaval with jobs etc survival has been the priority. Will get back to snowballing when the dust has settled hopefully.
I owe mum nearly 15k so sadly I don't think she'd be too chuffed if I tried to get out of it!
Could maybe do something about the petplan - it's a complicated situation, will have to check.
Surrey CC Council tax is back from the pub days again. Didn't realise it was still owing (I didn't manage these things then) and caught up with us last year.
Sadly my family lives in Cornwall (we're in Northamptonshire) and hubby's family is in Surrey, so can only help in holidays.
I did consider biking to work, but I work 10 miles away, and with shift work at present would be cycling in the dark either very early in the morning or fairly late at night, and tbh just not keen.
Thanks for the ideas - keep them coming as I won't be on here very regularly soon as broad band is currently still provided by last company and I expect it to be cut off any day now and won't be able to afford it after that

The other thing I was thinking of was the amount of parties my son gets invited to (he is also 8). You can end up spending a small fortune on cards wrapping paper and a present each time. Do you go to the sales and stock up for the year? I went ot boots the other day and got lots of presents for this year. Keep a check on the grabbit board for sneaky loopholes! Also the freebie board. Please could you pm me your address so I can send you some things that I got a few of (if only to hide them from my husband who keeps telling me that we dont actually have that many people to buy for!)
Keep smiling- you have three lovely little girls. I have three cheeky little boys!0 -
On a more practical note, what shall I do about these rates demands?
They say that :
"On June 2nd 2003 Magistrates courts at x made Liability Orders against you for £4510.70 for non domestic rates for 2002 and £1174.64 for 2004 for the above property.
The balance outstanding is total 3.867.33. Unless this total is paid to the Council within seven days of the date of this notice then the Council will pass the debt to the bailiffs for them to levy distress on your goods. This will incur additional costs, payable by you.
If you cannot pay the sum due within seven days, and do not wish the account to be passed to the bailiffs, please contact the Council with your offer of payment."
So, I'm assuming that I send them a copy of my SOA, and offer them a token sum per month, including the first cheque? And an offer to set up a standing order? Looking at our SOA, what should I offer? Do you think £20 per month would satisfy them?
Thanks again,

Hi Brassic
Just wanted to add sympathy. I know how it is when you try so hard and are constantly knocked back. That unexpected Business Rates Bill must be such a blow.
Your earnings are high and I'm sure you will get past this phase and things will get easier.
My debts are lower than yours but our earnings are lower also and I've been feeling really low these past few days. I do hope the time of year is a factor and we will all start feeling better when the days get longer.
Sympathies and best wishes
SeaxwynTotal debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Okay so income is £3508, outgoing is £2543.77
So that leaves £964.23 for servicing the debts. Very do-able
What are the business rates? No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

Definitely contact them as soon as possible and explain the situation. They may even accept your suggestion over the phone instead of having to list everything- worth a go.0

Hi Brassic, sorry to hear you are feeling so fed up about things. I think you should definitely call them - from the sound of the letter they are pretty much expecting you to call and say you can't pay it all at once, and surely a token payment is better than nothing. Are you still repaying overpaid child tax credits? It might also be worth speaking to them, as they may be able to hold off reclaiming them for a while if it is causing you financial hardship (I'm sure they have some sort of guidelines about this, but don't know exactly what they are). You are doing so well, please don't be too hard on yourself. xxx
Edit - have you advised the tax credits people of the extra childcare you are paying for while you train? It might mean you are entitled to more tax credits."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
